Today on Fox News Sunday, Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) tried to blame President Obama for the bank bailouts last fall. The Rev. Pat Robertson and Dick Cheney have also recently made the same claim, but by their definition of socialism, if Obama is a Socialist, so is George W. Bush, but this little fact hasn't stopped the GOP from revising bailout history.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was on CBS' Face the Nation today, and he continued to back of the failed Republican talking point that Obama Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor is a racist. Gingrich said, "It's clear that what she said was racist, and it's clear --- or as somebody wrote recently, "racialist" if you prefer."
A dispute has erupted between Burger King and one of its franchisees over global warming. The franchisee, Mirabile Investment Corporation had placed the placed the political statement global warming is baloney on a dozen of their signs across Tennessee. Corporate BK ordered the statement taken down, and the franchisee has refused.
A segment on yesterday's Glenn Beck show on Fox News was supposed to be about the Rev. Pat Robertson giving Americans financial advice, but it turned into a discussion of why the government can't make people donate to charity, and how Obama in injecting socialism into the nation, while never mentioning personal finance.
After taking a verbal beat down from Rick Sanchez on CNN for his completely false claim that only Anderson Cooper covered the recent murder of Army recruiter William Long, host Bill O'Reilly sort of apologized to CNN tonight for his mistake. It is a sort of apology because he called Sanchez snide, and promised to have more about CNN's coverage on his Monday show.
Recently on The Factor Bill O'Reilly made the false claim that only Anderson Cooper of CNN covered the story of the murder of Army recruiter William Long. Today, on CNN Rick Sanchez absolutely blasted O'Reilly by showing clips of all the reports CNN did of the story. Sanchez ripped O'Reilly a new one. Check out the video.
On his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh defended Germany for the Holocaust by saying that Obama is ripping Germany to shreds for something they did 60 years ago, one day after praising all of Islam. Rush is saying that the Holocaust should be forgotten about. I guess the killing of 6 million Jews isn't as important to him as painting Obama as a Muslim lover.
In a move that can only be called unbelievable Republican Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina took to the Senate floor yesterday to defend RJ Reynolds for marketing a new mint flavored candy like tobacco product that seems designed to get kids hooked on nicotine, which is being tested in Ohio, Oregon, and Indiana.
In a speech in Anchorage today, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin claimed that Obama is trying to control the American people through deficit spending. The irony here is that she ranted against deficit spending while introducing Michael Reagan, who is the son of the king of all deficit spending, former president Ronald Reagan.
How weak is the GOP criticism of Obama's speech? The best criticism that former Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer could off of President Obama's Cairo speech today was that it was too balanced. While Rush Limbaugh was left to babble about how Obama offered the Muslim version of ACORN and Rev. Wright.
On his radio show today, former Rep. Bob Ney challenged former attorney general Alberto Gonzales to still defend waterboarding as not torture, after he tried it. Ney said, "If Alberto Gonzales wants to clear his name by saying he didn't cooperate in torture, then let him try it himself."
Rush Limbaugh continued his unpatriotic ranting on Hannity tonight. Limbaugh told host Sean Hannity that he still wants Obama to fail, and America's success is based on Obama's failure.
In a speech yesterday at the Heartland Institute, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) laid out the GOP strategy for dealing with the potential EPA regulation of greenhouse gasses. Inhofe said that Republicans plan to stall until they get a new president, which means that Republicans might be willing to stall for the next seven and a half years.
Here is some bad news for the critics of President Barack Obama who want to claim that Obamamania is over. Part 1 of the NBC News special Inside the Obama White House drew 9.12 million viewers, and was the most viewed program among adults 18-34 and adults 18-49.
On his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh executed a near flip flop on Obama Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Limbaugh said, "If Sotomayor is a pro-life racist, I may have to change my view."Rush's position now is that the real issue isn't racism. It is abortion. Yesterday Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) argued on the House floor yesterday that legislation to limit CO2 emissions would cause the seasons to stop changing. Aiken confused climate and weather, and he argued that seasonal change from winter to spring was, "good climate change." He also asked why the government would want to run the weather.
Dr. Warren Hern, who is one of the last doctors in the United States who performs late terms abortions, was on MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show, where he said that the American anti-abortion movement is made up fanatics, and the only thing that separates them from the Taliban is 8,000 miles. There is something interesting in the latest CNN/Opinion Research poll. Beyond finding that there is no current GOP favorite for the 2012 nomination, the poll also contained favorability ratings for notable national Republicans at the top of the list were moderates Colin Powell and John McCain. At the bottom were Rush Limbaugh and Michael Steele.
In a startling bit of racism, Manuel Miranda, a former aide to Republican Sen. Bill Frist told conservative bloggers that, "We aren't like African Americans. We think like everyone else." This begs the question, for Mr. Miranda how do African Americans think differently from everyone else? I'd love an explanation.
Today on his radio show Rush Limbaugh claimed that Barack Obama bitched slapped and whipped the auto industry into accepting CAFE standards. He also claimed that Obama may ban people from buying Hummers. That bully Obama is trying to get the automakers to produce cars that people might actually buy, gasp!!!
