Every week Friday Fox Follies documents 7 days worth of Fox "News" shenanigans, tomfoolery, and pettyfoggery. As The Phony War on Christmas season is almost upon us, FFF noticed that Fox "News" is also engaged in phony wars on The President; Women; The Democrat [sic] Party; The Supreme Court; Hillary Clinton; The Blacks; The Gays; The First Amendment; Working People; and, as always, the Truth.
The only thing keeping the Donald Trump and Fox "News" detente from leading this week's Friday Fox Follies, is the school massacre in Oregon
As a certain xenophobic and racist presidential candidate felt himself slipping in the polls, Donald Trump Says He Will Boycott Fox News "For The Foreseeable Future," which ensures his xenophobic and racists supporters will continue to trash Fox "News," further fracturing the audience.
As the country marks the anniversary of the attack on 9/11 with somber memorials -- vowing to NEVER FORGET -- this is a very good time to remind people how Fox "News" was the Bush Administration's biggest cheerleader for taking the country to war against Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with the downing of the World Trade Center.
If Fox "News" has not been trying to foment a Race War, it's doing a pretty good imitation. The negative way it portrays Black folk, as opposed to the respect with which it gives White folk, has been a cornerstone of the station since it went on the air.
No sooner had Friday Fox Follies resigned itself to another column about the dust-up between Donald Trump and the Fox "News" Channel that a murder and morning television changed everything. Naturally while Fox accused the Left of politicizing these murders, it did everything in its power to politicize these murders.
As much as Friday Fox Follies wants to move on from the topic of Donald T-Rump and Fox "News," there's always time to acknowledge validation, especially since he's still sucking all the oxygen out of the 2016 Presidential Race.
There was a great synchronicity in the Cable Tee Vee Firmament this week. As Jon Stewart stopped climbing Bullsh*t Mountain, an avalanche called Donald J. Trump proved -- once and for all -- that "Fair and Balanced" is nothing but an empty slogan covering for all the other lies Fox "News" tells. Adding to the schadenfreude on the Left? Trump is the Frankenstein monster built in the birther boardroom of the Fox "News" Channel.
Back in the day, before television, one of this country’s greatest demagogues was Father Charles Coughlin, broadcasting from a studio in the tower at the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Michigan. At first he espoused a Social Justice platform and supported President Roosevelt’s New Deal. However, as the years went by, Coughlin turned against FDR and became increasingly extreme, railing against Jews and supporting the policies of both Hitler and Mussolini.
When one challenges the average, brain-dead Fox "News" viewer, they often shut down because they have no comeback. However, if they have any social media skills at all, they're able to cite other sites that say the same damned thing. This is the Fox "News" Echo Chamber in full effect.
Is Donald J. Trump the Manchurian Candidate, here to assassinate any semblance of an orderly election process? If so Fox "News" can proudly say, "We built that."
Another bad week for Fox "News" as the entire free-thinking world rejected 2 iconic symbols the station venerates: the Confederate flag and former-Curvy Couch Potato Donald Trump.
Each week Friday Fox Follies' biggest challenge (aside from too much crazy for one column) is creating humor from the Fox "News" tomfoolery and shenanigans, with varying degrees of success. However, the news this week broke my heart.
They say to kill a snake, you must cut off its head. Which is why less-informed Fox Haters cheered at the news Rupert Murdoch to Step Down as CEO of 21st Century Fox. Meanwhile, Megyn Kelly defended sex abuse and attacked a child over the "indefensible" actions of a police officer.
This week, Friday Fox Follies has been thinking about the golden days of Yellow Journalism when newspapers took circulation wars to new heights with lurid stories. Proving only the technology has changed, Jim Bob, Michelle Duggar Open Up to Megyn Kelly About Their Son Josh Molesting His Sisters is fishing for ratings, as opposed to any truth.
Standard weekly operating procedure for Friday Fox Follies is to wake up at the crack of Fox and Friends First (no pun intended) to collate the notes that will make up this week's laugh riot. As I sort and give it shape, I also sit through Fox & Friends to see what venom is being injected into the body politic today.
The news that Fox's Greg Gutfeld To Host His Own Comedy Show has caused crisis of confidence. Heretofore Friday Fox Follies treated all of Fox "News" as a meta-comedy/reality show -- a cross between The Colbert Report and the short-lived The Joe Schmo Show. Maybe only Greg Gutfeld is in on the joke.
Friday Fox Follies was sure this week's column would be a slam dunk after Michelle Obama's forceful speech on race at Tuskegee University, aka Speechifying While Black™. But then her husband had to open his big mouth: Obama Swipes at Fox: Pushing Narrative That Poor People Are 'Leeches'. No biggie. Add a few words here and there and --- voila! --- an All Obama!!! All The Time!!! column. However, that plan was dashed as Conservatives Quickly Try to Turn Stephanopoulos into the 'Next Brian Williams.'
A conflagration cannot erupt in a vacuum. One cannot separate cause from effect. Unless you're the Fox "News" Channel, of course.
What depresses me is Fox ratings versus a Truth-O-Meter. Once again the Tampa Bay Times Pundit Fact is checking in on our TV network scorecards.
