Opinion: Can Progressives Harness “White Rage” to Defeat Trump?

Rage has, no doubt, been a powerful political force in U.S. history.

Dr. Carolyn Anderson demonstrates this fact most fully and compellingly in her book White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide, in which she analytically chronicles how white racist rage has implicitly informed social policy throughout U.S. history to disable African Americans, preventing them from achieving self-sufficiency and participating in the capitalist economy by restricting their labor mobility, criminalizing them, and enacting legislation that hobbled their participation in the free market and in democracy. read more

Woodward spoke to MSNBC’s Deadline: White House on Thursday about Trump’s refusal to commit to a peaceful transition of power if he loses in November.

We have a president who has forsaken his basic duty to protect the country, to tell the truth and organize and plan, have some theory of the case what is he going to do as president,” Woodward said. read more

“‘The Trump Century, How Our President Changed the Course of History Forever’. On sale tomorrow. A great book by an even greater author. Make Lou NUMBER ONE!” Trump wrote.

He also used his tweet as an opportunity to attack journalist Bob Woodward, whose book, Rage, chronicles the president’s response to the coronavirus pandemic: “Much better than the boring, no new info., Woodward book. Besides, Lou is much smarter and sharper than Bob, by a lot!”

Bob Woodward: Trump’s Presidency Is a “Staggering, Monumental Tragedy Across the Board”

Bob Woodward has spoken candidly about his interview with Donald Trump and his view of how the President has handled the Coronavirus. The veteran journalist spoke in tragic terms.

Woodward spoke to MSNBC on Wednesday about his new book Rage, which made headlines for its revelations about Trump’s downplaying of the virus. Woodward said Trump regretted not being interviewed for his earlier book, Fear.

Trump regretted not talking to me to me for Fear and so he agreed to do this, and it was one of the most, one of the strangest experiences of my life,” Woodward said. read more

Trump Says He Read Bob Woodward’s 466-Page Book in One Night

Trump claims Biden is an anti-vaxxer endangering American lives

Donald Trump has claimed he read Bob Woodward’s new book about him in just one night. The veteran journalist’s book, Rage, has caused a stir with its details of the President’s reaction to COVID-19.

Trump spoke to Fox News on Tuesday and dismissed the book. However, he also said he’d read the 466-page book the night before the interview, prompting criticism.

“I actually got to read it last night. I read it very quickly and it was very boring,” Trump said.

But there was not much in that book,” he said.

Trump’s dislike for reading has been well documented with some of those who worked with him even claiming he was close to being functionally illiterate. This makes his claim about finishing the book so quickly hard to believe.

He confirmed that details in Rage were accurate but also defended his comments reported in Woodward’s book that he knew how bad Coronavirus was but downplayed it so he wouldn’t cause a “panic.”

It’s OK, I mean it’s fine. I don’t want to create panic,” he said. read more

Meghan McCain: To Conservatives, the Media is the Enemy and Here to Make you Look Bad

Meghan McCain’s role on The View is not exactly a simple one. She is tasked with giving a Conservative take while surrounded by largely Liberal hosts and the audience tends to skew Democratic as well.

That being said, the daughter of former Arizona Senator John McCain is often all over the place. That was true today when she accused the media of being out to make Conservatives look bad.

Just one day after saying that she believed The Atlantic report that Trump slammed the military, she was back to defending the President during Thursday’s broadcast.

When the discussion turned towards Woodward’s taped interviews with Trump, McCain said, “But going to the initial point of this Bob Woodward interview, I cannot tell you the levels of insanity and stupidity you have to be in politics to give 18 hours to any journalist period. “

Trump crowd

President Donald Trump attempted to deflect scandal and attacked journalist Bob Woodward’s credibility in an early morning tweet. The president’s remarks came after recordings of interviews with Woodward in which he admitted to downplaying the severity of the coronavirus pandemic were released.

“Bob Woodward had my quotes for many months. If he thought they were so bad or dangerous, why didn’t he immediately report them in an effort to save lives?” the president wrote. “Didn’t he have an obligation to do so? No, because he knew they were good and proper answers. Calm, no panic!”

Another Woodward Revelation: No One Likes Jared Kushner

Donald Trump looks at Jared Kushner and sees a kindred spirit. That is one of the few explanations as to why the President trusts his son-in-law more than he trusts his sons Don Jr. and Eric.

The President, however, may be the only person who sees Kushner in that late. Bob Woodward revealed a number of things about the Trump White House today. One note that went underlooked was that nobody likes Ivanka’s husband.

The New York Times Robert Costa and Philip Rucker write, “Kushner was a frequent target of ire among Trump’s Cabinet members, who saw him as untrustworthy and weak in dealing with heads of states. Tillerson found Kushner’s warm dealings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ‘nauseating to watch. It was stomach churning,’ according to Woodward.”

Bob Woodward’s New Book Has Become Trump and The GOP’s Worst Nightmare

Bob Woodward’s new book “Fear” has become Trump and the Republican Party’s worst nightmare by selling faster than any book since Harper Lee’s sequel to “To Kill A Mockingbird.”

CNN reported:

“Fear” came out on Tuesday. And it is already one of the top selling books of the year — not just on the politics shelf of the bookstore, but in the entire store.

On Wednesday, Barnes & Noble said “Fear” has had the “fastest sales for an adult title since Harper Lee’s ‘Go Set a Watchman’ was released in July 2015.”

The bookseller called the pace of sales “phenomenal” and “amazing.”

Bob Woodward’s Book Is A Nightmare For The GOP Just Before A Midterm Election

There has been a wave of books about Trump‘s instability, chaos, and poorly run White House. What makes Woodward’s book different is the depth of the research and the credibility of Woodward himself. Bob Woodward is a journalistic legend who has covered 20% of the presidents in the nation’s history.

Bob Woodward is not a political partisan. He has a credibility that runs across the political spectrum.

Trump and the GOP can’t discredit Woodward’s book as a partisan attack. The White House tried this strategy and quickly abandoned it. Because it is coming from Bob Woodward, the message of wake up and pay attention to what is going on here penetrates and resonates more deeply across the country.

Trump and Woodward Feud Escalates on Eve of Book Release

One day before the release of a blockbuster book there has been an escalation in the war of words between President Donald Trump and journalist Bob Woodward.

Woodward’s new book “Fear: Trump in the White House will be released tomorrow, and already Trump is tweeting about it, trying to lessen the negative impact it is sure to have on him and his presidency.

Yesterday Woodward was on Sunday morning shows talking about the dangerous impact of Trump’s tweets, and how in one case they almost started a war.

He said that Trump once wrote a tweet which North Korea would have interpreted as a notice of an imminent U.S. attack.

Trump drafts a tweet saying, ‘We are going to pull our dependents from South Korea — family members of the 28,000 people there,’ ” Woodward said during an interview on CBS.

“At that moment, there was a sense of profound alarm in the Pentagon leadership that ‘my God, one tweet and we have reliable information that the North Koreans are going to read this as an attack is imminent,’ ” Woodward said.

The prize-winning journalist also issued a strong warning to Americans, saying they need to take action against the Trump presidency.

Woodward: “People better wake up to what’s going on” in the White House

The book depicts a White House in chaos, where staff members regularly attempt to thwart their boss and restrict his actions. Excerpts of the book released in advance of publication have provoked backlash from Trump on Twitter.

First he said the “book is a joke” and he himself would write “the real book.”

The Woodward book is a Joke – just another assault against me, in a barrage of assaults, using now disproven unnamed and anonymous sources. Many have already come forward to say the quotes by them, like the book, are fiction. Dems can’t stand losing. I’ll write the real book!”

Trump Furious at White House Staff; Wants Hope Hicks Back

New reports out of the White House say that President Donald Trump is extremely angry about Bob Woodward’s book, and he is taking it out on his White House communications office.

The newest member of the communications staff is Bill Shine, who is reportedly catching the brunt of the president’s anger and frustration. Shine is the current White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications, and he spent most of his career as a producer and executive at Fox News before being asked to work for Trump.

Trump is blaming his own people for the way Bob Woodward’s book, appropriately named “Fear,” is being covered in the press. The book is based on many interviews and reveals secrets about the inner workings of the Trump White House. It has not been flattering to the president, to say the least.

Reportedly Trump is upset that there has been a continual stream of excerpts from Woodward’s book appearing in the media for the past week. Although Trump has tweeted about the book, his own employees have not been as aggressive in denying what the book says.

A few days ago the president wrote on Twitter:

The Woodward book is a scam. I don’t talk the way I am quoted. If I did I would not have been elected President. These quotes were made up. The author uses every trick in the book to demean and belittle. I wish the people could see the real facts – and our country is doing GREAT!”

Bernstein Says John Kelly Should Resign and Be Ready to Testify

Carl Bernstein on Tuesday said that White House chief of staff John Kelly should resign from his position and be ready to testify under oath before Congress about what he has witnessed first hand as a member of President Trump’s inner circle.

Bernstein’s’ call for Kelly to resign came after the publication of excerpts of a bombshell new book about the Trump administration written by Bernstein’s partner from Watergate, Bob Woodward.  “Fear: Trump in the White House,” the new book by Woodward, paints a very disturbing portrait of Donald Trump and his presidency, based on many in-depth interviews of people close to the White House.

“It would seem to me that Gen. Kelly, in the interest of the country, needs to resign and with a statement that says, ‘The presidency can no longer be entrusted to this man,'” Bernstein said on CNN after reviewing the contents of the book, where he also advised Kelly on what he should write in a resignation statement.

“‘We now have a picture of what we’ve all been dealing with here,'” Bernstein said the chief of staff should write in a resignation. “‘I will be happy to appear before committees of Congress … and tell them what I have seen about this president of the United States and whether or not he is competent and able to lead the United States.'”

Brian Stelter, host of CNN’s Reliable Sources, posted the following tweet about his interview:

“Carl Bernstein says Bob Woodward’s book is chilling: “The people closest to the president of the US, in his W.H. and in his admin, are saying that they see their job as protecting the US FROM the president of the US. That he is a danger to the republic…”
