If Donald Trump wanted an effective border policy, he should listen to the people at the border with actual experience on border security. But he has never done that. So he is proposing to spend at least $5 billion — but probably many times more than that — on a border wall which wall not improve border security at all.
Donald Trump said on Tuesday that much of the border wall he wants has already been built and has been “very effective.” But that is not true.
He apparently was referring to old border fencing built decades ago. And nothing he’s done has been “very effective.”
President Donald Trump on Thursday again threatened to close the southern border if the Mexican government doesn’t do more to provide border security.
“If we find that it’s uncontrollable, if we find it gets to a level where we are going to lose control or where people are going to start getting hurt, we will close entry into the country for a period of time until we can get it under control,” the president said to reporters during his Thanksgiving vacation at his Florida palace, Mar-a-Lago.

This could be the scene at the United States’ border with Mexico very shortly as groups of civilians are answering President Donald Trump’s call to arms. They are going to fight against the “invasion” of poor refugees that they’ve been told is coming.
Conservatism has been described as the belief that no one should be the first person to do anything ... and House Republicans are taking that seriously.
