Once it became clear that Donald Trump had lost the 2020 election, Conservative media immediately went to work trying to make him feel better. And a big part of that effort was calling the integrity of the election into question.
It seems like Donald Trump‘s loss in November has deeply affected Tucker Carlson. Each night, the Fox host delves deeper and deeper into conspiracy theories and paranoia.
During his Monday night broadcast, Carlson had a meltdown over mask wearing. He urged his viewers to harass people who wear masks outdoors. Even worse, he said that people should call child protective services on parents who had their children wear masks.
On Tuesday, senate lawmakers had the opportunity to question FBI Director Christopher Wray about the January 6th insurrection. Many of the Republican senators, though, were more interested in asking about MS-13 and Antifa and absolving Donald Trump for any blame.
Last week, videos emerged of Marjorie Taylor-Greene harassing student activists and hinting that Nancy Pelosi should be executed. This wasn’t new behavior from the QAnon believing, conspiracy theory spouting congresswoman.
During one of the “elite strike force” press conferences, Sidney Powell accused everyone from Republican lawmakers to Hugo Chavez (who’s been dead for 7 years) with conspiring against Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
Candace Owens has had quite a meteoric rise in the last 5 years. She claims that before Donald Trump, she was a Democrat. But after the Gamergate controversy, Owens says that she became a conservative overnight.
Over the least year or so, Donald Trump has often been upset with Fox News. At first, the president mostly had problems with straight news anchors like Shep Smith or Chris Wallace. But after the network called Arizona for Joe Biden on election night, all hell broke loose.
In the days of Donald Trump, the Republican party has been more and more willing to buy into conspiracy theories. From climate denial to QAnon congresswomen to climate denial to Burisma, nothing has seemed out of bounds.
Donald Trump is not having a good day. He felt much better about things on Tuesday night before the counting of the ballots that had been received by mail. But now he’s in full feral mode and attacking everyone and everything.
Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon was arrested today on charges of mail fraud and money laundering. The indictment against Bannon came from the Southern District of New York and not the FBI.
Since the alleged crimes involved the mail, the arrest was made by the United States Postal Inspection Service. While many have not heard of them, they are not new. In fact, the Inspection Service is the oldest federal law enforcement agency and was formed by Benjamin Franklin.
The website Vimeo has pulled content from Infowars and its founder Alex Jones from its site for violating the platform’s video content standards. A spokesperson for the video hosting service told Business Insider on Sunday that the Infowars videos “violated our Terms of Service prohibitions on discriminatory and hateful content.” Vimeo is a video-sharing website in which users can upload, share and view videos.
Conspiracy theories have always existed, but in recent years they have been getting more numerous and more troublesome. There is a new tendency of conspiracy theorists to target regular people as well as public figures such as politicians and celebrities. This can raise havoc in these people’s lives, so they are fighting back by filing lawsuits. If they can prove actual damages they have suffered there is a good chance this new class of plaintiffs will win these suits, which may change the national dialogue for the better.
When a conspiracy theorist is elected President of the United States, these are the things you can expect to happen.
This is a slippery and dangerous slope down which Trump and his surrogates have embarked. This is how dictatorships function, not democracies
Many of the victims are our children, whom we send to school each morning without any guarantee they will return home safely - or alive.
Trump supporter will seek out the “Mexicans. Syrians. People who can’t speak American and go right up behind them and make them a little bit nervous.”
Drudge said he and Trump’s supporters “wondered if the government was lying about the intensity of the hurricane” and legitimacy of National Hurricane Center data.
"Fire that idiot pipsqueak Brian Stelter, who said anybody that raised a question about Hillary's health was a conspiratorial thinker"
"Congress has an obligation to use resources and taxpayer dollars effectively and efficiently and respect the men, women, and resources of DoD.
