Opinion: The Media Must Stop Feeding Trump’s Spread Of Election Panic

The stories we tell ourselves, especially the ones we tend to repeat over and over and that circulate throughout our political and cultural discourses, matter.  They impact us. They carve neural pathways, so to speak, in our collective cultural mindset, in our political nervous system.  They set expectations for us about the future, map out and set the course for our imagination of possibilities, preparing us for, priming us to accept, some future outcomes more than others.  In this sense, they can make us feel powerful and hopeful or demoralized, powerless, and anxious. read more

William Barr: Dems are “Spreading Sh*t” About Trump Seizing Power

Donald Trump knew who William Barr was before he appointed him to be his Attorney General. Writing an op-ed in the Washington Post, Barr clearly signaled to Trump that he was more than willing to do his dirty work.

Since then, Barr has repeatedly acted in the President’s best interest and has made not attempt to be impartial. This attitude was clearly on display during a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune’s John Kass.

The Attorney General first railed against mail-in voting. “

Just think about why we vote the way we vote now, where you have a precinct, your name is on a list, you go in and say who you are, you go behind a curtain, no one’s allowed to go in there to influence you, and no one can tell how you voted. All of that is gone with mail-in.” read more

In New Tweets, Trump Continues to Suggest His Supporters Should Commit Election Fraud

Trump struggles to form coherent thought on Fox

Despite criticism from politicians after giving an interview in North Carolina and urging people in the state to vote twice, President Donald Trump continued to suggest his supporters should commit election fraud in three new tweets earlier this morning.

The president began his messages with another attack on mail-in voting, suggesting the process results in a high probability of “Unsolicited & Solicited Ballots.” (This is not the case.) He urged people to send in their ballots as soon as possible, go to their polling places when early voting becomes available to see if their vote has been counted, and then vote in person if their vote has not been tabulated. It is illegal to vote twice in the same election.

“Based on the massive number of Unsolicited & Solicited Ballots that will be sent to potential Voters for the upcoming 2020 Election, & in order for you to MAKE SURE YOUR VOTE COUNTS & IS COUNTED, SIGN & MAIL IN your Ballot as EARLY as possible. On Election Day, or Early Voting, go to your Polling Place to see whether or not your Mail In Vote has been Tabulated (Counted),” he wrote.

He added: “If it has you will not be able to Vote & the Mail In System worked properly. If it has not been Counted, VOTE (which is a citizen’s right to do). If your Mail In Ballot arrives after you Vote, which it should not, that Ballot will not be used or counted in that your vote has already been cast & tabulated. YOU ARE NOW ASSURED THAT YOUR PRECIOUS VOTE HAS BEEN COUNTED, it hasn’t been “lost, thrown out, or in any way destroyed”. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!”

Pelosi: Undermining Elections Makes Trump and Republicans “Enemies of the State”

Pelosi Election Rigging Trump

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says the choice to undermine the 2020 general election and gutting the United States Postal Service (USPS) makes President Donald Trump and Republicans “enemies of the state.”

“We take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. And sadly, the domestic enemies to our voting system and honouring our Constitution are right at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with their allies in the Congress of the United States,” Pelosi told MSNBC. “They’re doing everything they can [to] suppress the vote with [their] actions: scare people, intimidate by saying law enforcement will be there, diminish the role of the postal system in all of this. It’s really, actually shameful. Enemies of the state.”

Pelosi advised Americans not to listen to President Trump’s false statements about mail-in voting, saying they’re meant to “intimidate” people from voting.

“One thing I will say to the American people: Do not pay attention to Donald Trump. It is his goal to scare people from voting, to intimidate them by saying he’s going to have law enforcement people at the polls. To welcome, in fact, Russian intervention, letting [Russian President Vladimir] Putin decide who will be President instead of the American people,” she said. “But ignore him, because his purpose is to diminish the vote, to suppress the vote. And shame on the Republicans for enabling that to happen.”

Earlier this morning, the president claimed that implementing mail-in voting would result in a “catastrophic disaster.”

For our Country to be sending 80 million UNSOLICITED BALLOTS is very unfair and a roadmap to disaster,” he wrote, without citing any evidence for his claim. “Even recent small and easier to control elections which did this are a catastrophic disaster. Fraudulent & missing Ballots like never seen before. 20% and 30% off. STOP!”

Trump Spends Morning Lying About Mail-In Voting, Calling It a “Catastrophic Disaster”

In what critics might view as a preview of his remarks on the second night of the Republican National Convention, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to lie about mail-in voting, claiming that implementing it would result in a “catastrophic disaster.”

Colorado Secretary of State: Trump is “Lying” About Mail-In Voting

Speaking on CNN, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D) said President Donald Trump “is lying about vote by mail” in an effort to discredit mail-in ballots and cast doubt on the integrity of November’s general election.

“Colorado has a very clean history of running great elections with vote by mail,” Griswold said. ”We have safeguards in place to make sure we would catch any type of double voting including signature verification, rules about ballot collection and a lot of other safeguards,” adding that “vote-by-mail is like wearing a mask. It’s the way that we can save Americans’ lives.”

Veterans Group Mocks Trump for “Finally” Going to War––Against USPS

Progressive PAC VoteVets has released a new ad repudiating President Donald Trump for his attacks against the United States Postal Service (USPS).

The video features narration highlighting the military deferments Trump received when he was younger (he crafted the now-infamous “bone spurs” excuse to get out of serving in Vietnam. The narrator also points out how much veterans depend on the Postal Service for prescription deliveries and for receiving their ballots. An estimated 100,000 veterans also currently work for the Postal Service, according to its official website.

“This is just a warmup for the fall,” the narrator says. “Donald Trump plans to disrupt absentee ballots and vote-by-mail for millions of Americans in the middle of a pandemic he failed to control,” the voice-over concludes. “Because Donald Trump knows if the mail delivers ballots to America’s veterans, we’ll deliver a message right back — you lose.” read more

Biden Campaign Slams Trump for “Sabotaging” Postal Service

Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential campaign slammed President Donald Trump, accusing him of “sabotaging” the United States Postal Service following remarks Trump made in which he appeared to admit as much.

“The President of the United States is sabotaging a basic service that hundreds of millions of people rely upon, cutting a critical lifeline for rural economies and for delivery of medicines, because he wants to deprive Americans of their fundamental right to vote safely during the most catastrophic public health crisis in over 100 years,” campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement. read more

Newt Gingrich Lies About Mail-In Voting, Claims Democrats Are Trying to “Steal” November Election

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich repeated President Donald Trump’s own false claims about mail-in voting, saying that Democrats can’t win an “honest election” so they are trying “to set up an ability to steal it.”

Gingrich pointed to the state of Nevada, which the president announced his administration will sue after its legislature approved a measure to provide absentee ballots to all registered voters.

“They’re going to mail ballots to 200,000 people, who according to the post office don’t exist. They’re either dead, they’ve moved, the address doesn’t work, 200,000 extra ballots floating around out there,” Gingrich said. read more

Poll: Most Voters Are Opposed to Delaying November’s Election

Trump thinks mail in voting is only safe if the governor is a Republican

According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, 66 percent of registered voters are opposed to delaying November’s election despite common concerns about the coronavirus pandemic and President Donald Trump’s continued push against mail-in voting.

The poll found that eight in 10 Democrats and five in 10 Republicans are opposed to postponing the election. Only 23 percent––a number Reuters noted constituted mostly Republicans––supported a possible delay. 11 percent were undecided.

Asked about President Donald Trump’s suggestion that the election be postponed, 54 percent said they thought he was looking to improve his reelection chances. 42 percent said Trump thinks “he will have a better chance of winning.”

The president has repeatedly claimed––without evidence–– that mail-in voting would lead to widespread voter fraud. (Several studies also disprove the president’s notion.) That said, 21 percent said the proposed postponement is related to the president’s concerns about voter fraud. 12 percent said Trump “wants to distract the country from the pandemic and the economy.” 10 percent said he “wants to protect Americans from the spread of coronavirus at polling locations.”

Earlier this morning, the president continued his attacks against mail-in voting, writing in a tweet that the state of “Nevada has ZERO infrastructure for Mail-In Voting.”

Nevada has ZERO infrastructure for Mail-In Voting. It will be a corrupt disaster if not ended by the Courts. It will take months, or years, to figure out. Florida has built a great infrastructure, over years, with two great Republican Governors. Florida, send in your Ballots! read more

Trump’s Daughter-in-Law Recorded Robocall Encouraging Mail-In Voting

Lara Trump recorded a robocall this year encouraging people to use mail-in ballots. The President’s daughter-in-law said voting by mail was safe and secure.

Trump recorded the call in support of Republican Mike Garcia, who was running a special election earlier in 2020. He was eventually elected to replace Democrat Katie Hill, who had resigned.

“Nancy Pelosi and liberal Democrats are counting on you to sit on the sidelines this election, but you can prove them wrong,” she said in an April recording

“You can safely and securely vote for Mike Garcia by returning your mail-in ballot by May 12.”

Mail-In Ballots will lead to massive electoral fraud and a rigged 2020 Election. Look at all of the cases and examples that are out there right now, with the Patterson, N.J., being the most recent example. Republicans, in particular, cannot let this happen! read more

Trump Claims Election Would Be “Rigged” If Mail-In Ballots Were Used

Trump responds to Black Lives Matter by defending the Confederacy

President Donald Trump claimed the November election would be “rigged” if mail-in ballots were allowed.

The president claimed without evidence that “MILLIONS” of mail-in ballots “WILL BE PRINTED BY FOREIGN COUNTRIES, AND OTHERS.” He referred to it as “THE SCANDAL OF OUR TIMES.”
