Senators Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) have announced legislation that would set minimum federal standards for unemployment benefits nationwide. The legislation also includes a stipulation that unemployment benefits will receive an extra boost when unemployment is high.
In an interview on Morning Joe after two nights of Democratic primary debates, Colorado Senator and Presidential candidate Michael Bennet pointed out that during those two nights not one question was asked of the twenty candidates regarding educational policy. Indeed, he continued, no question was asked of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential debates.
On Thursday, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) announced that Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) will take over as Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, replacing Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO).
Incumbent Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen held on and defeated Republican Scott Brown in New Hampshire's US Senate race on Tuesday evening.
