Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) made a compelling case to his fellow progressives for why they must vote for President Joe Biden.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) made a compelling case to his fellow progressives for why they must vote for President Joe Biden.
Democratic elections expert David Shor has a stark warning: if Democrats think they’re sitting pretty, they’re deluding themselves.
A progressive group has endorsed Joe Biden for president despite not supporting him during the primaries. The group, part of the so-called “Resistance”, voted to support the former Vice President. Indivisible will formally endorse Biden on Monday following overwhelming support from its local chapters and members. The group was founded following President Donald Trump’s election….
It’s hard to gauge the outcome of midterm elections more than a year before they’re held, but Donald Trump’s presidency has motivated progressive and moderate voters in a way they haven’t been in a long time.
It is troublesome, even for a progressive secular humanist, to see Democrats resort to a Republican ploy of measuring other Democrats according to their progressive purity
If these evangelicals in the Republican ranks had even the slightest clue how fortunate they are to live in a secular society they might rein in the perpetual sniping that their religious rights are being abridged by a secular government.
Arizona Congressmen Raul Grijalva (AZ-3) plans to announce his endorsement of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders for President on Friday.
Gun research is scarce so when it does come out progressive gun regulation advocates have to report on it accurately.
Calls for the Progressives to “break up” with the Democratic Party as an abusive partner miss the mark. The problems is actually their neglect of the party.
The professional left is really not different than the right in that they forget their past missteps and repeat them despite evidence they are on a path to hand Republicans precisely what they want.
There has been no dearth of outrage from EmoProgs who are furious with the president for his third fiscal cliff proposal, and their anger is based on ignorance of the negotiation and governing process
The Democratic Party is a big tent. However, the party needs to refocus on its progressive values, not get led in a rightward direction
Some liberals have the mind-boggling view there is no difference between Romney & Obama, and are even planning not to vote for Obama in swing states.
Republicans from past experience seem to be eager to take away your rights to firearms and shift the blame to Democrats.
Parent trigger laws are being pushed by ALEC and other right wing groups to allow parents to essentially ‘fire’ a public school, with the potential to make them into private, charter schools.
Progressives and Liberals must be proud of themselves for their wavering support of President Obama and women’s rights. It is easy to predict that when the facts are in, the Left will arrogantly claim they are the segment who was on the right side of the issue regardless the outcome. One thing is certain; the right is consistent in their ideological positions, and right or wrong, they stick to their guns. Liberals and Progressives though, abandon their core beliefs to fit the news of the day and it is just one reason Republicans and their conservative base control the narrative on every issue.
Anyone accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty but right now I would no more trust a jury of progressives to look dispassionately at the case than I would a jury of conservatives.
President Obama’s tax compromise passed Thursday with a 277 to 14 (139 Democrats and 138 Republicans voting aye). The Senate passed the legislation Wednesday.
You hear a lot of talk about the evils of big government and federal regulations but damned if both groups don’t like a healthy dollop of regulation as well. Ultra-conservatives want the government to regulate our sex lives and ultra-liberals want the government to regulate what we can eat.
Words and actions have consequences, sometimes to the person who speaks, sometimes to the people spoken of. In an environment of hate and xenophobia, the consequences can be deadly and widespread.
Unregulated capitalism gave us the evils of the Gilded Age. Unregulated capitalism gave us the crash of 2008 that has left not just America, but much of the world, reeling.
Why do we have a two-party system? It is not enshrined in the Constitution. In reality, the Founding Fathers viewed the creation of political parties with horror. Is changing the system un-American? What are the possible benefits?
On his radio show today Glenn Beck continued his jihad against intelligence by saying, “The Nazis learned their propaganda from the progressive movement in the United States.” However, Adolph Hitler wrote in Mein Kamph that the Nazis learned the value of propaganda from the British during World War I.
Fox News president Roger Ailes was on ABC’s This Week today, where he was confronted by Arianna Huffington about the inflammatory rhetoric that Glenn Beck uses on his show. Ailes replied, “He’s talking about Hitler and Stalin slaughtering people so I think he was probably accurate.”
When Democrats can’t get the obstructionists to play and we fail to read up on how our government works (so we can blame you for not closing Gitmo yet, just say), progressives point our fingers at you with ignorant righteousness, Mr. President, and say, you suck.
Tuesday’s special US Senate election in Massachusetts presents a critical moment for both the Obama administration and the Democratic Party, which is why Democrats need to mobilize to prevent Republicans from possibly derailing the Obama agenda.
The attempted Christmas day terror attack has thrust the issue of terrorism back into the spotlight, while the cynical, paranoid neo-con chicken hawks have looked to exploit the issue for political gain. Here is how the US can battle al-Qaeda without giving into fear and changing who we are.
While Palin has refused to allow any media to ask her questions on her “book” tour, and now she’s laid down the new law and is not even allowing her fellow Alaskans inside the venue where she held her last book signing in Alaska. She had the local bloggers/media identified by pictures, and on a “Banned” list, enforced by local police.
You can call it a teaser for Countdown’s whack job of the year special, but if anyone needed a recap of the wild year that Sarah Palin had, the program delivered it tonight. The one thing you’ll probably notice about Palin’s year is that she quit her job, fought with the media, sold books, and did nothing productive in 2009.
First, the fact that he couldn’t take losing to Ned Lamont in the Democratic Primary for his Senate seat in his last election (2006), so HE started HIS OWN PARTY, Connecticut for Lieberman then he campaigned for John McCain, and now his criticism has helped derail the public option, because at the end of the day it is all about Joe Lieberman.
Tonight, Chris Matthews opened up his MSNBC program Hardball with an apology for his comment that Obama went into the enemy camp when he spoke at West Point last night. Matthews said, “I used the wrong words and worse than that, I said something that was just not right, for that I deeply apologize.”
On his radio show, Rush Limbaugh warped Chris Matthews’ statement that Obama went to the enemy camp last night, by proclaiming that West Point is not the enemy camp, but that MSNBC and the White House are the real enemies of America. Apparently, Chris Matthews now speaks for the entire Left.
Whether you love him or hate him, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews has a habit of planting his foot firmly in his mouth, which he did again tonight during MSNBC’s coverage of President Obama’s speech on Afghanistan when he claimed that by giving a speech at West Point, Obama had ventured into an enemy camp.
On his MSNBC program Countdown tonight, host Keith Olbermann delivered a brutal critique against President Obama’s decision to send more troops to Afghanistan. He concluded, “So, much of the change for which you were elected, Sir, has thus far been understandably, if begrudgingly, tabled, delayed, made more open-ended.”
Donny Deutsch was on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning, and in response to a new poll that found that Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are the most influential conservatives in America, he said, “These are all entertainers. They’re circus acts.” Deutsch was asked about Lou Dobbs, and he said Dobbs is a racist.
Gone are the days of smoky newsrooms and journalists that are committed to facts. They have been replaced by 24 hour cable news networks and right wing infotainers, who give partial treatment to GOP talking points and illogical rhetoric. The result of this is that journalism being undermined by right wing media bias.
On MSNBC’s Morning Joe today, host Joe Scarborough jumped on the fear mongering bandwagon over trying detainees in the United States. Scarborough claimed that, “This has never happened before. It is unprecedented,” but this is not even close to true as both the Bush and Clinton administrations tried terror suspects in the United States.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich, who was the only Democrat to vote against the House healthcare reform bill, was on MSNBC’s The Ed Show tonight discussing why he voted against the bill. Kucinich said, “I voted against it because it is a giveaway to the insurance companies. They’ll get $70 billion in new business. They’ll have 21 million captive customers.”
In an interesting blog post today, Harvard Business professor, and Obama voter Bill George argued that MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann is hurting America. George said, “Olbermann cheapens discourse. He touts easy solutions. He speaks in truculent soundbites. His invective is hurting America!” This leads to the question are progressives sick of Olbermann?
In an interview this morning on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Obama White House adviser Valarie Jarrett expressed the president’s firm commitment to the public option. Jarrett said, “He’s committed to it, he’s pushing for it, and he’s absolutely committed to delivering on health care reform this year.”

Today on MSNBC Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough defended Fox News, and retreated back into the liberal media bias argument while discussing the David Axelrod’s statement that Fox News isn’t a really news station. Scarborough said, “Fox News is no more biased in its own way, than the other networks are biased in their own way.”
When Donny Deutsch appears on MSNBC, for better or worse, something interesting always happens. Today he was on Morning Joe talking about Rush Limbaugh when he called Rush a “megalomaniac and a scary, distasteful, human being,” and while talking about Limbaugh’s bid to own an NFL team called him a douche.
Rep. Michele Bachmann was on FNC’s The O’Reilly Factor last night, where she indulged in one of O’Reilly’s favorite hobbies, attacking MSNBC. O’Reilly said that the left is after Bachmann, and she replied, “So now it’s like I almost have personal stalkers, only they have TV shows…”

In response to Glenn Beck telling his Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski to shut the hell up yesterday, Joe Scarborough did something he has been itching to do for a while. He opened up on Beck. Scarborough said, “Suddenly the Glenn Beck that nobody watched six months ago is now the Glenn Beck who he thinks is an international superstar.”
On MSNBC’s Morning Joe today Mika Brzezinski expressed concerned that the conservative voice wasn’t being well represented by Glenn Beck. This comment sent Beck on the warpath. Beck and his crew mocked her on his radio show, and Beck told Mike to, “Shut the hell up.” It is looks like Beck has a new enemy.
During President Obama’s speech tonight to a joint session of Congress, GOP Rep. Joe Wilson called Obama a liar when the president said that illegal immigrants aren’t covered in the healthcare bill. This led MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough to tweet that anybody who calls the president a liar is a dumbass who should show the president respect.

The public doesn’t support it.”
Even though MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough has been hammering Fox News and talk radio over the last couple of days for fear mongering with Obama’s speech to students, FNC still touted Scarborough today as potential 2012 Republican presidential candidate. However, Scarborough has shown no interest in running for president.
Even though MSNBC’s August 2009 ratings are not surprisingly down, compared to the August 2008 convention and election coverage, Rachel Maddow’s show has continued to grow. Maddow is up a whopping 61% among views 25-54, and 92% in total viewers over last year. Maddow’s show continues to become a force on MSNBC.
Glenn Beck returned to his radio show today, and continued to play the race card, except now he has labeled MSNBC a racist network, because the network was talking about the angry white crowds protesting healthcare reform. We have one black guy with a gun, among a crowd of white faces, but MSNBC is racist.
On his MSNBC show tonight Ed Schultz accused the Republican Party of practicing intellectual political terrorism on all Americans in this debate on healthcare reform. Schultz said death panels were an “intellectual car bomb driven into the market place of ideas.” Check out the video.
Bill Maher was on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show tonight and in response to the new polling that showed that Republicans believe the misinformation campaign about health care reform, Maher pointed out that Republicans tend to have a casual relationship with the truth. He believes that Republicans are guided more by feeling and less by facts.
The Western Journalism Center, a right wing group that is most famous for push Vince Foster conspiracy theories, has put out a You Tube video calling Rachel Maddow a liar, because she correctly pointed out on Meet the Press that MoveOn.org never ran an ad that compared George W. Bush to Hitler. The problem is that they are wrong. MoveOn never ran the ad.
On Meet the Press today, it wasn’t Ed Schultz, Keith Olbermann, or Chris Matthews that was giving the progressive perspective on health care, but it was Rachel Maddow, who has seen her ratings soar as the nation debates health care reform. Maddow’s show has been rivaling Olbermann’s program as the top draw on MSNBC, and she could become the network’s biggest star.
Here is a story that you won’t be seeing on MSNBC. According to Media Matters, CNBC sent an email to a national Tea Party coordinator looking for a mob to cover at a healthcare protest. They were looking for a location with, “lots of energy and lots of anger.” Low and behold, CNBC may be trying gin up anti-healthcare reform coverage.
On his radio show today, Lou Dobbs called Keith Olbermann the resident moron over at MSNBC, who knows nothing about politics, nothing about economics who didn’t cover any of it until he got his gig at MSNBC. Dobbs also took on Carlos Watson who he called a commentator on the crazed out its mind left wing network of MSNBC.
In his special comment tonight, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann hammered Sarah Palin for her death panel statement. On his radio show today Lou Dobbs kept up the attack on MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann by claiming that Olbermann attacked his family. He also accused MSNBC parent company General Electric of working for the Democratic National Committee.
Tonight on his FNC show The O’Reilly Factor host Bill O’Reilly weighed in on the feud between Keith Olbermann and Lou Dobbs. With the news that Rep. Michele Bachmann’s main Democratic challenger Elwyn Tinklenberg would not be taking her on again in 2010, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann thought that it was time to pay tribute to his favorite wing nut. Consider this video a best of Bachmann.
Tonight on his MSNBC program Countdown, Keith Olbermann took aim at the Democrats who are in the pockets of the healthcare sector that are blocking healthcare reform. He warned, “You were elected to serve the people, and if you fail to pass or support this legislation the full wrath of the progressive and the moderate movements in this country will come down on your heads.”
After MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow mocked CNN’s Lou Dobbs for calling her the, “tea bagger queen” yesterday on her show, Dobbs fired back today on his show. He referred to Maddow as, “a lunatic among the lily livered, limp minded, lefty lemmings.” Dobbs, who has “questions” about Obama’s citizenship, thinks Maddow is mentally unstable. That’s a laugh.
Right wing talk show host G. Gordon Liddy was on Hardball today claiming that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. Liddy said that Obama’s parents intentionally posted a false birth announcement in the Hawaii newspaper, and that Obama is an illegal alien. Host Chris Matthews smashed through this crack pot theory. Check out the video.
Hardball host Chris Matthews was on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports where he brought up an interesting point about the GOP’s motivation behind their pushing of the conspiracy theory that Obama isn’t a citizen. Matthews said that the GOP is using an old nasty trick to de-Americanize a guy with a different name.
On Morning Joe today, Joe Scarborough hammered the birthers. Scarborough said, “Instead of trying to figure out what’s happening to their country, the terrible things that are happening economically to their country, they embrace conspiracy theories, and they make themselves look like cartoon characters.”
Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough will never be mistaken for an Obama apologist, but when RNC Chairman Michael Steele tried to discuss the exploding cost of healthcare with him by using the standard GOP talking points Scarborough lit into him. Once again, Steele managed to embarrass himself on national television.
MSNBC’s Pat Buchanan was on The McLaughlin Group where he continued to attack Sonia Sotomayor. Buchanan wondered why she didn’t defend the wise Latina comment. He also said that Sotomayor was picked because, “she is a passionate Latino woman who is a liberal.” The racism continues from Uncle Pat.
Ever since Sonia Sotomayor was nominated for the Supreme Court, MSNBC’s Pat Buchanan has been bashing her as an unqualified Affirmative Action baby. His comments reached their zenith on The Rachel Maddow Show where he claimed that the US was built by white people and have continued today. Here are some videos of Buchanan’s recent race based attacks on Sotomayor.
Ed Schultz responded to Rush Limbaugh’s attack on him today by challenging the right wing talk show host to come on his MSNBC show and debate him about anything. Schultz said, “Your audience hates me. They would love to see you stick it to me, but you won’t do it, because you’re a coward Rush.”
Comedian Bill Maher was on MSNBC’s Hardball tonight, where he offered his unique take on the Sonia Sotomayor hearings, “All these white people, especially white men who are so incensed about reverse racism and Sotomayor because the problem for too long is Puerto Rican women have had their boot on the neck of white men.” Check out the video.
Leave it to former Nixon speechwriter Pat Buchanan to come up with the most extreme solution for the Palin’s Levi Johnston problem. On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Buchanan said, “Todd Palin ought to take Levi down to the creek and hold his head under the water until the thrashing stops.” Pat was joking, sort of.
With the revelation that the CIA’s domestic spying program is bigger than we ever thought, it is clear that there are a lot of very busy people, poking around in our daily business. We can only hope that not only are there many many people watching us, but that some of them might actually be watching the bad guys, the dangerous terrorists.
On MSNBC this afternoon, Firedoglake’s Jane Hamsher, and Townhall’s Jillian Bandes were engaged in the standard lefty/righty blogger cable news debate on healthcare, when the discussion turned to healthcare as a basic human right like food is Bandes asked, “Should food be a basic human right?” Well yes it should be, and is a basic human right.
Yesterday, MSNBC’s The Ed Show devoted almost its entire program to Michael Jackson’s memorial service, and their decision paid off for the most viewers for the show since it debuted in April. Tuesday’s show had 864,000 total viewers which is almost 120,000 more than host Ed Schultz’s previous high.
On MSNBC’s The Ed Show tonight Donny Deutsch was supposed to be on to talk about the future sales of Michael Jackson’s music, but that was tossed aside as, Deutsch said, “I think as a country we have lost our minds a little bit…People who are crying in the streets who don’t know him, they need to maybe get a little bit of a life.” Check out the video.
On MSNBC’s Morning Joe today, co-host Mika Brzezinski rushed to the defense of Sarah Palin while criticizing the “mainstream media” for not understanding that Palin represents the views of real Americans and not the liberal elite who live in cities. So I guess the real Americans are 30%-40% who approve of Palin, and the millions who voted for Obama aren’t?
The bizarre story of Sarah Palin’s resignation continues to grow as MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell is reporting that people close to Sarah Palin have told her that Palin is completely fed up with politics, and is leaving political life for good. If you believe that Sarah Palin is really going to leave national politics for good, I have a bridge to sell you.
MSNBC’s slogan is “The Place for Politics,” but since the death of Michael Jackson it has become the place for mundane, endless coverage of Michael Jackson. If you don’t believe me, check out the video of the lead stories last night for Hardball, The Ed Show, and Countdown. MSNBC can’t cover Iran, but they are all over Michael Jackson.
While doing his Worst Person in the World segment on his MSNBC show tonight, Countdown host Keith Olbermann named Rush Limbaugh one of the worst persons in the world for describing the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision in the Ricci case as a 9-0 decision. On his radio show today, Glenn Beck claimed that Obama is weak because he did not call on Fox News at his news conference last night. Beck also called Helen Thomas a left wing activist columnist, and equated progressives to Marxists. I think somebody is a little upset today over not getting a question.
With Barack Obama opening up a wider and wider lead, both in national polls as well as state polls (even crucial swing states), and John McCain literally sinking quicker than the Titanic, the question must be asked: what happened to John McCain?
There used to be a Whig Party in the United States. William Henry Harrison and Zachary Taylor were elected President as Whigs. In practice, the U.S. Constitution only allows for two dominant parties to exist at any given time for reasons involving the make-up of the U.S. Congress and the Electoral College system.
If Obama can Learn from Bocephus, He has a Good Chance at Being the Next President. If Not, the Rural Poor May Vote Republican in 08.
