Someday, future Americans will look back on the end of the 21st century’s first decade and feel shame, and perhaps a sense of wonder that such an advanced nation, one of the most free to have ever existed, could be home to such petty prejudice and superstition.
It’s not Democrats, after all, who marginalize and disenfranchise black or other minority voters. It’s not Democrats who are accusing America’s first black president of being a watermelon-picking white-hating racist and a Muslim. It’s not Democrats who go to Tea Party rallies and wave Confederate flags all over the place. That would be the Republicans.
The conservative move to re-write history is not just about politics but ideology. The bogus controversy can't exist without the bogus history conservative Christians have constructed, and the bogus history is tied into hate and intolerance and a need to justify it.
Convinced that only conservatives have a right to rule, and that they are not a defeated political party but the victims of an unlawful usurpation, a government in exile, the Republicans have declared war on America and will go to any lengths to return to power.
While endlessly professing their undying love for all things constitutional, the document, the Founding Fathers, strict constructionist judges, conservatives also hate the Constitution and are willing to throw it out in favor of a document founded on bigotry and religious intolerance.
It was another wild and wacky trip through revisionist Right Wing history with Glenn Beck today as Glenn decided to spend the day defending slavery. On the radio he claimed that race relations aka slavery was fine until it became politicized before the Civil War, and he followed this up with a claim on his TV show that there were no racial relations issues in colonial America.
In the last few years, the far right has brought this nation teetering to the utter brink of moral bankruptcy by selling mock and scorn as workable public policy. We see this in their leaders (Sarah Palin) and followers (the Teabaggers), whose team jersey is contemptuous wanton violence -- their faces screwed up into a rictus of wrath, lips snarled in ridicule as they arrogantly spew the hubristic litter of Fox News talking points.
It seems the GOP, in its quest to distort the racist realities of Arizona's immigration reform law, is forgetting about W's ill-fated attempt at pushing his own immigration reform legislation in 2007.
On his radio show today, Glenn Beck confuse the progressive movement of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries with the modern definition of progressive, so that that he could make the case that progressives are the most racist people who have ever lived in America, "The most racist people ever to live. The most racist people to ever live in America were the progressives."
While trying to claim that the reports of the Tea Party's racism are a giant Democratic conspiracy, Andrew Breitbart offered up a racist explanation for why Tea Partiers attacked the Black Congressional Caucus. Breitbart said, "The very act of the Black Congressional Caucus walking through the Tea Party people while holding all those videos was an act of provocation." Those black congressmen should have known their place, eh Andy?
In case anybody forgot, Rush Limbaugh reminded his audience that the President of the United States is in fact black. Today on his radio show, Limbaugh accused Obama of using the black dialect while addressing the National Governors Association today at the White House. Limbaugh said, "Obama can turn on that black dialect and turn it off."
In an interview on Fox News, noted scholar and college dropout, Rush Limbaugh claimed that President Obama did not do his own work in law school, while hinting at race, "I think this is the first time in his life that there's not a professor around to turn his C into an A or to write the law review article for him he can't write."
The most surprising reaction to President Obama's State of the Union Speech came from MSNBC's Chris Matthews who said, "I forgot that he was black tonight for an hour." In other breaking news, President Lincoln has freed the slaves.
Thanks to some seriously inappropriate words from Democratic Senator Majority Leader, Harry Reid, the GOP are up in arms while trying to spin their racist behavior on to the Democratic Party.
According to television station KITV, Rush Limbaugh rushed to the hospital today, and is currently listed in serious condition after complaining of chest pains while vacationing in Hawaii. It is only a matter of time until Limbaugh and his followers blame Obama for his possibly troubled ticker.
On his radio show today Rush Limbaugh called for war with Iran, but Rush doesn't want to use ground troops but massive bombing raids. Limbaugh said, "The only way to stop them is to destroy the Iranian regime, the mullahs, and that can only be accomplished through war."
On his radio show today Rush Limbaugh defended Fox News by labeling both MSNBC and CNN respectively porn and child porn. If Fox News is talk radio, Limbaugh said, "MSNBC is pornography, and Obama likes MSNBC."
On his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh descended into conspiracy theories as he blamed the Obama people for his rejected bid to become a minority owner of the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh said, "Obama, the Obama people have got their hooks in the NFL. I am assuming that when Limbaugh gets a cold, he blames Obama for that too.
As soon as Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe voted in favor of the Senate Finance Committee's healthcare reform proposal, it was a given that Rush Limbaugh would go on the attack. Limbaugh called Snowe a predictable joke, and then he attacked the state of Maine. He said that we ought to saw the state off and let it float out to sea.
On his radio show today, talk show host, and potential future part owner of the NFL's St. Louis Rams, Rush Limbaugh declared that basketball is the favorite sport of gangs. Limbaugh said, "Midnight basketball, I mean, we've done it all. We've taken the favorite sport of gangs, and we put it at midnight to get them on the basketball court."
