Democratic Senator Confirms That Donald Trump Is Under Investigation For Obstruction Of Justice

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) confirmed in an interview that the Trump White House is being investigated for obstruction of justice.

Sen. Van Hollen said, “Oh, I don’t there’s any doubt that the special counsel has been charged not just to look into collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians during the election, but into obstruction of justice and a potential cover-up. I mean that is clearly one of the reasons that Rod Rosenstein did not answer a lot of questions about conversations that were had with respect to the memo when he met with the President. His view of the Comey memo. All of that now is in the purview of the special counsel with respect to potential obstruction of justice.”

NBC’s Katy Tur asked if the Deputy Attorney General specifically used the term cover-up.

Van Hollen answered, “I am not sure if he used the word cover-up, but the word obstruction of justice was used, and that amounts to the same thing.”

The incidents that Van Hollen mentioned in relation to obstruction of justice all have one person in common. Donald Trump admitted that he asked for the memo with reasons to fire Comey even though he had already decided to fire the FBI Director. Trump was also the person who met with Rod Rosenstein, and it has been publicly reported that Trump met with James Comey and asked him to drop the investigation into Mike Flynn.

The obstruction of justice investigation will likely include multiple people in the White House, and Trump will be among those who are being looked at for obstructing justice. All of the media reports and Trump’s own interview with Lester Holt last week are invitations to a federal investigation of obstruction of justice.

It looks within the past week, the President Of The United States opened his mouth and got himself investigated for felony obstruction of justice.
