Trump Is Already Scheming To Undermine The Special Counsel Just Appointed To Investigate Him

Trump is already planning to use an obscure ethics rule to publicly undermine and smear Robert Meuller, who was appointed the special counsel to investigate the Russia scandal.
Reuters reported, “The Trump administration is exploring whether it can use an obscure ethics rule to undermine the special counsel investigation into ties between President Donald Trump’s campaign team and Russia, two people familiar with White House thinking said on Friday….But the administration is now mainly focused on placing a cloud over his reputation for independence, according to the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.”

The process of trying to find something to use against special counsel began hours after he was appointed.

Instead of letting the investigation play out like an innocent person would do, Trump is planning on smearing the credibility of the investigator to diminish what the investigation finds. This is not how innocent people behave.

The Trump White House is going to do their best to smear and discredit the independent counsel’s investigation through speeches and public statements. The name of the game for Trump is to cast doubt on the findings of the investigation.

The Trump administration keeps approaching the Russia scandal like they are guilty. If the President has been unjustly accused or if the investigation was based on partisan politics, the White House should welcome an independent examination because it would clear their good name.

By trying to cover-up whatever crime has been committed, Trump and his White House continue to make things worse.
