It was the Trump administration that threatened retaliation against the entire state of Alaska if Sen. Lisa Murkowski didn’t support the bill. It was Trump who could never sway Sen. Susan Collins of Maine. Leadership starts at the top, and Trump demonstrated that he is a worthless leader. It was Mitch McConnell who cooked up the scheme of a secret health care bill, but Trump supported it.
Mitch McConnell deserves blame for being an inept Majority Leader who tried to run the Senate like it is the House and ram a bill through without following the proper legislative process.
Donald Trump owns this failure. The drama on the Senate floor captured the Trump presidency in a nutshell. There is a lot of talk, bluster, and finger pointing, but virtually no action. When push comes to shove, Trump can’t deliver.
