Donald Trump’s unhinged rant in Phoenix lasted for so long, and was so boring, that his own supporters began to tune him out while hundreds more walked out on him.
The Washington Post reported, “But as the night dragged on, many in the crowd lost interest in what the president was saying. Hundreds left early, while others plopped down on the ground, scrolled through their social media feeds or started up a conversation with their neighbors. After waiting for hours in 107-degree heat to get into the rally hall — where their water bottles were confiscated by security — people were tired and dehydrated and the president just wasn’t keeping their attention. Although Trump has long been the master of reading the mood of a room and quickly adjusting his message to satisfy as many of his fans as possible, his rage seemed to cloud his senses.”
When Trump is without a teleprompter and prepared remarks, he has the focus of a neo-Nazi hamster on meth.
Trump rants, raves, and ramble. Rarely do his thoughts connect to each other any meaningful way. Donald Trump is the crazy man yelling at the moon on the street corner, with the only difference being that Trump has thousands of supporters egging him on while they see political Jesus in his verbal mashed potatoes.
Supporters walking out on Trump because the payoff wasn’t worth the wait is nothing new. It happened during the campaign. Trump’s black hole of neediness wears his supporters out. Even they have to walk away at some point.
When even his own supporters lose interest, it is a big sign that like his sanity, Donald Trump’s grasp on the presidency is slowly slipping away.
