The Russia scandal has finally landed on Paul Ryan’s doorstep. Thanks to the Nunes memo, Ryan can no longer hide from his role in Trump’s Russia cover-up.

CNN reported on letters that Senate and House Minority Leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sent to Ryan:

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sent a letter Thursday to Ryan, obtained by CNN, with a long list of questions ranging from the FBI and Justice Department objections to the letter to whether Ryan’s staff was involved in drafting the memo and if the edits to the document were consistent with House rules.

Quite simply, under your leadership, dangerous partisanship among many House Republicans seems to have taken precedent over the oath we all take to protect our nation,” Schumer wrote.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi also sent a letter to Ryan calling Nunes’ actions “dangerous” and “illegitimate,” and called on Ryan to remove Nunes as Intelligence Committee chairman.

“It is long overdue that you, as Speaker, put an end to this charade and hold Congressman Nunes and all Congressional Republicans accountable to the oath they have taken to support and defend the Constitution, and protect the American people,” Pelosi wrote. “The integrity of the House is at stake.”

Ryan has ducked and dodged while stays in the shadows of enabling Trump to use House Republicans has his soldiers in his war against the FBI. The Nunes memo was a step too far. Speaker Ryan has been figured out. It isn’t Nunes who has the power in this situation. It is Paul Ryan. Nunes would only be able to cooperate with the White House on a memo of misinformation with Paul Ryan’s blessing.

Paul Ryan illustrates how the Russia scandal is a Republican Party scandal

Republicans want the American people to believe that there is nothing to the Russia scandal, and if there is something to it, it was just a few bad apples in the Trump campaign. None of this is true. Going back to Mitch McConnell refusing to cooperate with Obama on a joint statement about Russian election interference, the Republican Party has been heavily involved in covering up how Trump won the election.

There are three ways that this ends for Paul Ryan

Thanks to Devin Nunes, Paul Ryan’s role as a Trump accomplice has also been exposed. The Russia investigation needs an independent counsel to investigate the role of Republicans in Congress in this scandal, but there are three ways that this will end for Paul Ryan. Ryan will lose the House majority, retire, or end up under investigation. Options one and two are the most likely, but there is no escaping the fact that Democrats are coming for Ryan, and this will not end well for the Speaker of the House.
