Hope Hicks Is Being Grilled By House Democrats And She’s Talking

House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) told reporters that Hope Hicks is answering questions, but White House lawyers are blocking her from discussing her time in the White House.

Hope Hicks is answering some questions

NBC News reported, “Well, Jerry Nadler told us she is answering questions and that the interview goes on. He came out a short time ago. We spoke to him on camera. And other members we have spoken to have said — provide a more mixed picture that she is answering some questions. And the other questions are white house counsel that are democratic members of the committee are raising their concerns about a presidential immunity, which is asserted in a letter to the white house counsel that set the stage for this. We are getting a mixed picture that hicks is here, is participating, and is answering some questions. But at the same time, there are a number of areas where the committee would like to explore Hicks’ knowledge because of her proximity to the president at so many key moments. And that is where White House counsel is listening and participating.”

Trump was unable to stop Hicks from testifying, but they can limit what she can say about her time working in the White House.

The problem for Trump is that Hicks was with him for years. She can talk about what happened during the campaign and the transition. She can talk about Trump Tower meeting. She can speak about efforts to cover up communications with the Russians. There is still a great that Hicks can say that isn’t good for Trump.

Democrats are going to have to fight Trump’s assertion of executive privilege, but Hope Hicks is the first witness to defy Trump’s blanket claim of executive privilege and answer questions.
It is a step in the right direction and a sign that Trump’s defenses are beginning to crumble.
