Donald Trump tried to play big man with a reporter ban, but it is not working out well for him.
After the White House Press TV Pool refused to replace CNN after the president banned the network as the pooler on Monday and Tuesday, Trump still held an event at the White House.
Trump thought that he didn’t need the reporters as much as they needed him. It is a pretty safe assumption to believe that he thought he would show them who the boss is, but it didn’t work out that way at all.
This is how Trump’s event played out on television.

Trump flailed his arms and made gestures like some ancient, chubby cartoon bird, but there was no sound.

So maybe, uh, Tim, this is one example of it backfiring just a little bit. Um, pick up on or some of the things Michael was saying, and, um, obviously the ramifications are right here. It turns out Donald Trump really does need those reporters with their cameras and microphones, because without them, no one broadcasts what Trump is saying, and if no one broadcasts it, he can’t get the attention he craves every moment of the day.
The message is clear. The relationship between a president and the press is a two-way street.
The White House needs media to broadcast its message. Without microphones, a president can’t be heard.
Trump needs the press because, without them, he is just a weird-looking old guy silently waving his arms in the air, as no one can hear what he is saying.
