It seems to me that Trump's sending the Nat'l Guard into California should have been illegal on its face, even it they were not to be a civilian police force. There was no natural disaster in CA, and not an insurrection either.

They can be deployed to protect ICE agents doing immigration raids. That part is legal, but Trump's whole plan, because there aren't enough federal law enforcement agents to deport 20 million people, is to federalize the National Guard and use them as a civilian police force. It is clearly illegal for the NG to be doing policing, and that is a ruling I think should be replicated everywhere but DC because of that city's unique status.----Jason

I read you, Jason, but think sending them to "protect" ICE agents in CA was unnecessary, and wasteful spending, and we end up paying the bill.

ICE are just "Storm Troopers" for the Emperor now. Hope the Guard Members and Former Military Generals realize they could be next on the ICE list door knocking raid.

Great. So when do Trump and Hegseth report to jail? They broke the law. I don’t give a flying fuck about a judges ruling if it isn’t going to matter in the long run. They should both be arrested for breaking the law just like any other person would be. Why are they still free after breaking the law not just over this, but all the other times judges have ruled against them? If I did this I’d be in jail. They won’t stop until we stop them. They don’t care about the law, what a judge says, or breaking their oaths to defend the constitution.

Finally! Now get them out of here!

I live in California and think the courts decision against Trump and Hegseth right on. Trump wants to control all the big Democratic cities, to implement deportations, and to scare voters in the coming elections. If crime was the real reason they have gone after these cities, why didn't they start in the Republican lead cities where their is more crime?

Trump's action is a clear violation of the Posse Comitatus Act which prohibits the use of federal military forces for domestic law enforcement. However, a wannabe dictator like Trump couldn't care less about it. Republicans voted him into office; they should be very afraid of the next midterm elections for the voters might take it out on them. No more MAGA. Or as in a cartoon...Make America GULLIBLE Again.

Then why the fuck is he allowed to do this in Chicago???

I wonder if the Governors (blue states) welcomed and treated their own guards, if the guards might be used by the Governors as heroes? The Governor should call them before the president does!

True. But it begs the question of what the Supreme Court will do once this reaches them on appeal, which is what is certain to happen. And what is the means by which Trump will be held accountable? Thanks to the egregious and unconstitutional immunity decision of the Roberts court, any path to meaningful accountability appears to have been removed. I’m afraid it will just be business as usual: folks will say, “shame on you”, and Trump will just give our country the middle finger.

The National Guard is NOT a police force in any way!! PERIOD!!

Legality, rulings, decisions; without enforcement, meaningless. I have seen the health of whatzizname now forces them to accelerate their timetable. Their track record is not really impressive at this point, (apart from say, the ghouls behind the curtain) maybe trying to inflict three years worth of horror in six months time will cause.. mistakes to be made. I’ll come back later and see if that “maybe” should be removed.

Good but what will happen to Trump? Nothing! 🤬
