Johnson himself is a Louisiana terrorist attack on this once-great country.

What a sorry sack of crap! Typical Rep strategy, BUT when there is a mass shooting, NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO TALK ABOUT GUN REFORM.

I hope three Reps cross lines and vote for Jeffries which would be a miracle.

That would be absolutely awesome and hilarious. Plus would be a great middle finger to 45 from Ds and Rs that still have a brain and spine.

Well, bless his pea pickin' heart. If everyone involved is to be brought to justice... he and the GQP are 100% culpable. He won't need the job. Mandate? My backside. Thoughts and prayers, Mikey... thoughts and prayers, because the party is fooling far fewer of US citizens today.

Hakeem Jeffries for House Speaker! Mike Johnson is the one who has fully descended into “palace drama,” and now appears to be so stressed out about the speaker election that he can’t string two sentences together. Johnson is MAGAt poison and a disastrous person to lead any organization

There is no low when it comes to Republicons. What a joke! They did absolutely nothing in the last congress. What work are they trying to get done? Oh that's right tax cuts for billionaires.

He’s still gonna be gone and everyone will once again see the dysfunction that is the modern day GOP.

Side note, I like what you said about 45’s declining influence. Hopefully as the years go on, Rs will realize that 45 doesn’t have as much power over them as they think he does and will basically say “f it, we don’t have to listen to you anymore.” I think that will especially be true when (not if) Rs lose the House in 2026.

Johnson said "palace drama." Does he think that this is the Byzantine Empire?

Why would anyone be surprised that MJ would stoop low…he’s just another craven, divisive maga wrapped in the vestments of Christianity.

Wouldn't it be Trump's karma if he can't get Johnson reelected speaker, or anyone else for that matter before the election is to be certified. I think the Republican party is so divided now, that this is what will likely happen, and that shows just how much power Trump has over the Republicans.

Can we please set aside this fiction that the election can't be certified without a Speaker? !

The electoral college vote will be certified on January 6 whether there is a Speaker of the House or not. That's because the procedure for doing so does not require one. When the House convenes, the Clerk presides over all House business until a Speaker is chosen -- that would include transmitting the election results to the Senate.

(For confirmation, please see the US Constitution, Article II, Section 1, paragraph 3 -- There is absolutely no mention of any role for the Speaker of the House.)

Things are already off to a bad start for Republicans before they can take power.

As Jeff Tiedrich puts it, these people couldn't organize a successful fuck in a brothel.

Wonder what the likelihood is that there could be another Kevin McCarthy like Speaker fiasco that has them taking several to 23 days looking for a Speaker after Johnson doesn’t have the votes. Maybe Hakeem Jeffries could become Speaker if a few Republicans have had enough of the chaos. 🤔
