Bernie and the old guard are setting the table for the new progressive/Democratic Party and I’m here for it!!! 💙💙💙💙💙

Bernie needs to retire too.

He's working harder than nearly everybody else. The only one that can keep up with him is a 35 yo from The Bronx.

Anne Armstrong's avatar

He will, he’s setting up the next generation of progressives! AOC Maxwell et al!!!

He's been out there traveling and being a beacon of light for the future of his party and all the Americans who are showing up for the already overdue change. Time's up for owing favors to big money even for the Democrats. Bernie and AOC have stood out because of that. If you want change, then it needs to be by someone who is one like the people, for the people (no longer for the capitalist greed). Pendulum has to be reset. I know he won't run for president, but his wisdom and guidance is valuable.

Glad to see some younger blood in the party. Also hoping to see more emphasis on a progressive agenda.

I am all in favor of a younger Democratic Senate. House as well. I'm 77, I knew when it was time to move along and let the younger folks take over. We need new blood.

Ok, Chuck Schumer, your ally Durbin is calling it quits in a D-favoring midterm year.

Hint hint...

The 2026 Senate map technically favors Republicans, since Democrats have to defend more seats, whereas the seats Republicans are defending are theoretically safer this time around.

That said, thanks to Trump’s incompetence and malice, the possibility exists of (at best) a 50/50 Senate come 2026 if his approval rating reaches his first-term lows and discontent with the economy and his handling of other matters grows even further.

MPC's avatar

I mean 2026 is favorable for D incumbents in the Senate. And if seats in ME, NC and Iowa flip due to voter anger (and Ossoff stays in his seat), that reduces the R majority in the Senate.

It's a good thing. The Democrat party needs more energy, more backbone, more boldness.

It's about time. Now we just need term limits on all elected officials.

This is wonderful news. We as Democrats need a new message and there is so much younger talent to elevate. I’m 71 but I just thought “ugh” when the same old relics assembled after the election. They won’t retire. I can’t wait for the great new talented people take the reign. It’s time to get busy! Our country’s existence depends on a firestorm from us!

💙💙💙I’m all in! But we as Dwmocratic American Citizens, need to do everything we can to get everyone to VOTE! We can’t just sit back and wait for it to happen. We MUST help make calls, fundraise, knock on doors, do what is necessary! This next election is crucial for the Democrats and this country!

I agree. It is time to allow new ideas and a fresh energy into the tent. I am proud of those that are stepping up. I will vote and support them!

David Hogg has it right. We need ineffective Dems out. The old must mentor the new and show them how to deal with the stone cold Republicans without losing their own humanity. Stay grounded!! Thank you to the ones volunteering to leave and open opportunities to qualified and willing new members. Thank you all for your service, for fighting for funding the people's cause.

The DNC needs to get a Project 2026 and Project 2028 document together NOW!

Woohoo! It is high time for some forward thinking, progressive, young blood in the Senate! 💙💙💙💙💙

I pray for an intelligent, outspoken group of senators who will stand up for democracy and the People of the United States.

Younger Democratic Senate and term limits....for all.

I'd like to see some new, younger (40-50ish) Dems. stepping up to the plate. They's have to be able to shut down the likes of John Kennedy and numnut Johnson from Wisconsin. But that shouldn't be too hard. Neither of them has made any sense in years.

MPC's avatar

It’s going to be hard to jettison RoJo from his seat during a presidential year. But if the right challenger comes along… who knows?

Marsha Sherman's avatar

If Dems take control of the House following the mid-term election next year, RoJo will be history and Jeffries will become House Speaker. With all the b.s. We The People have endured these past 90 days, both parties are equally done with the GOP so chances are good, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Durbin had been a fixture for a long time all right—a frozen fixture. I’m so happy he realizes it’s time to pass the torch so that someone else can run with it, but alight.
