I recently contacted my Democratic Senator to inquire how this could be allowed in a reconciliation bill. He is currently sending a strongly worded letter to Republicans, that if they intend on leaving this in the bill it will require a 2/3 majority as it will not be just be a reconciliation bill any longer and they don't have the vote!!
We cannot allow any President, ESPECIALLY Trump to ignore court orders. He has already threatened to deport American citizens. What recourse will anyone have if they can just snatch anyone they want off the street and send them to a foreign prison or country? You will never get out of your nightmare existence, never a hearing or trial, just silently locked away for life for no reason at all. We cannot allow this to pass. Not even Republicans will be safe. No one. Do you want future Democratic Presidents to have that power? Are you planning a second coup attempt? Do you really think it will succeed? If you are wrong, is it then okay for Democrats to send YOU to Sudan, or El Salvatore? Are we really going to descend to vindictive, vengeance instead a country where laws matter. Where justice matters, where the Constitution matters. It has held us together, and in the highest international regard for 250 years. Will you so easily throw it all away for one old man, who even if he ruled for life, will be dead In just a few short years. Do you want to trust some unknown future President with that much power?
Republicans could not care less about the Constitution. This provision MUST be taken out, if this country is to survive. The executive branch cannot be allowed to act like a king. The Congress must do its job to safeguard all 3 branches of our government. There is no acceptable alternative.
