Senate Democrats Plan To Cut Off Trump’s Cash Until He Ends The Iran War

Senate Democrats are planning on using their funding leverage to force Donald Trump to end his war with Iran.

One of the top priorities that voters elected Democrats to do was to end the war with Iran. The war is unpopular because it is causing gas and diesel prices to skyrocket, which is adding to inflation by making everything more expensive.

Voters want to see Trump’s war brought to an end, and Democrats have a plan to do it. After the election, Sen. Chuck Schumer said that Democrats are going to lower gas prices by forcing Trump to end his war.

The American people are beginning to get a look at some of the tools that Democrats will be using.

Sen. Bernie Sanders was asked about ending the Iran war on CNN’s State Of The Union by Dana Bash, “I want to ask about a deadline that's coming up, December 11, and that is a deadline to fund the government. Will you support any funding bill that does not include defunding the Iran war? And, if so, are you comfortable with the government shutting down over it?”

Sen. Sanders answered:

Well, nobody is comfortable with the government shutting down. Nobody wants that.

But I hope my Republican colleagues understand that the American people are sick and tired of this unconstitutional and illegal war, which has not only raised prices in America, but has killed 19 American service members and thousands of people in Iran, innocent men, women, and children. That war has got to end.

And the other thing that we have got to be careful of, because of Trump's so-called Big Beautiful Bill, 15 million Americans are about to lose their health insurance. ACA premiums are about to soar. We have got to deal with that as well.

And, by the way, I think many of our Republican colleagues understand the war is unpopular and wrong, and that we should not throw 15 million people off the health care they have.

Bash asked a clarification question, “So, just real quick, you are saying that you will not support any funding bill that continues to fund the war or a funding bill that doesn't restore some of the cuts to Medicaid?”

Sanders confirmed, “That's correct.”

Sanders is a no on any funding bill that contains Iran war money or doesn’t restore Medicaid cuts, but the Independent is far from alone on the Democratic side; that is, a no unless the war is ended.
