The mistake that Republicans made after they won in 2024 was that they convinced themselves that they had a “mandate” from the American people to do whatever they wanted.

In reality, those who voted to give Trump and his party power wanted them to do the one thing that they campaigned on.

Republicans were elected to lower inflation and costs.

The voters didn’t invent the idea that Republicans would lower costs and inflation on their own. It is what Trump and the GOP relentlessly campaigned on.

When Trump and Republicans were returned to power with total control of the federal government, they immediately embarked on policies that raised inflation and costs.

Tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations took money out of the economy, while at the same time cuts to healthcare, food assistance, and the social safety net made it more difficult for Americans to survive.

Then came the tariffs and the Iran war, which both accelerated inflation and raised prices. The gas and diesel price hike caused by the war is the main driver of inflation and cost increases.

Democrats got the message.

They aren’t making the same mistake that Trump and Republicans made in 2024, as they are planning to make lowering costs their top priority, and they are going to do so by forcing an end to Trump’s Iran war.
