I'm guessing the bill needs 60 to pass which means if all democrats vote against it, it will not pass. Four reps in the House voted for it so I guess we'll see. I've lost faith in Schumer though.

I lost faith in Shumer last time around. He did a lot of good over the years. Every dem in the party should commit this time to a definitive “NAY”. The sabbatical is over. Unite for our country. Unite for our democracy & Unite for our Constitution. No ifs, ands or buts. This is imperative now. There aren’t any other choices. Represent the PEOPLE!

I think Schumer was right in not voting to close down the government. This administration is so corrupt they may have not reopened it for months but have continued with their agenda to abolish all government agencies.

Schumer better not pull the same trick he did last time, by letting the Republicans pass their bill with a simple majority. Hold the line! If the Democrats stand their ground, we can kill the bill—let’s see if Schumer grew a strong spine over the past few weeks

I knew it wouldn’t. The math isn’t in the R’s favor, it’s not a reconciliation bill so it need 60 votes to even get on the floor. R’s have 53 seats. No Ds will ever be in favor of it. Passing it in the House was performative.

Speak plainly. It is an attack on women’s rights. Can we not say that because Republicans men, certainly those in power, fear women or worse believe that they are inferior and shouldn’t be able to influence policy? Republicans in this current w caucus have the fewest number of women and fewer still sitting in Committee. MTG acting as pet dog doesn’t count.

It’s very important for democrats to talk about this. Last summer when it was time to renew my drivers license I wanted the Real ID which is required to fly after 5/7/25. I had forgotten my marriage certificate and my id did not match my birth certificate. I was turned away from the DMV. Now had I been turned away from voting I would have been enraged instead of just really annoyed. It’s no secret that the maga gop wants to disenfranchise women and minorities.

I had to go home and find a bill on it with my address and my name. I want you to imagine all of the women who took their husband’s name, and all of the household bills are in his name, who do not have an official copy of their birth certificate and marriage certificate available. Who work full time and have children and do not have the time to go chase down and pay the fees for paperwork to KEEP FROM BEING DISENFRANCHISED FROM THEIR VOTING RIGHTS.

I had all my paperwork, and DMV still wouldn't take proof of address because the bill statement was in his name, not mine. We had just gotten married....i had to go to my bank to have a letter writing that that's where I lived now because it was one the bank records.

It was a headache. Spent the whole day driving back and forth between Social Security, the DMV, and the bank.

They got upset when they women DIDN'T take their husband's last name and now they're making it harder to vote because we did.

If I were young woman about to marry, I wouldn't take his name now and I wouldn't care either.

Oppression like the Save act, happen in places like Russia or Hungary. How can these Republican Representatives look themselves in the mirror, or even call themselves American patriots, when they are following the lead of a convicted felon, who cowtows to Dictators. They should be ashamed of themselves. These issues are not political, they are issues of right and wrong, morality and humanity. Republicans are on the wrong side of history. If they wish to live under an oligarchy, they should take their leader and high-tail it to Russia forever.
