As a former Minnesotan, I am happy to hear Tim Walz may run for Senate. He is one of the top governors in the U.S., and Minnesota is the most progressive state in the Middle West and ranks very high in the nation. Walz has instituted free breakfast and lunches for all students in MN, regardless of income, because he knows how kids from low-income homes feel negatively "spotted out" when they are the only ones to benefit. He is also a no-frills, honest broker and fair politician. I think he would add an important voice to the Senate and be in league with Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. He walks his talk!

He should. And assuming there is another presidential election, he should run for that as well

He needs to run for POTUS not Senator

Walz should start a Progressive Pod Cast that includes car repair and Pre WWII History lessons.

I am far away in Maine and therefore cannot vote for him for any position he runs for. That said I like him. I like that he is a great governor. I think in this time of trump and the weasels we need strong governors. People with experience and common sense in leadership positions. With so many good people running for the senate seat I don't think it's as important. I would love to see Al Franken get his position back. With a strong well loved Minnesotan

Governor, a great Minnesotan senator, and a true blue constituency, the resistance can help reclaim Democracy and Decency for the nation!

I don’t know. He’d be great. But we need great DEMOCRATIC governors too! Maybe him staying on and another Democrat winning would be best!

I just learned that Tim’s current (second) term as MN Governor ends on Jan. 4, 2027, and he has the option to run for a third term. It will be interesting to see what he decides. If he does throw his hat in the ring for senate, would Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan run for governor? Or would she also run for senate?

It is a tough decision! I am not a Minnesotan but I love Gov. Walz, and am very impressed by Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan. Was so excited that with a Harris-Walz victory, Peggy would have become America’s first Indigenous woman governor. Sadly that didn’t happen, but … now that former Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland has announced her run for governor of New Mexico, wouldn’t it be fantastic to have two Indigenous female governors elected in 2026?!

“Gov. Walz might be better off running for reelection and weighing his options later.

US Senate seats don’t come open often, but Minnesota is lucky to have a lot of good options to pick their Senate candidate from.”

Very good point.

No. I am sure he is qualified, but his folksy style did not help the Democrats. I would like to see Al Franken run. So unfortunate that he was pushed out by Dem cannibalism.

I beg to differ. I loved Tim’s Midwestern folksy style and humor. IMHO, Tim and Kamala were the perfect match and had the strongest ticket in my 48 years of voting. It’s not that they lost, it’s that Dump and his cabal cheated to win.

Agree Al Franken should try to get back his old senate seat and then have Walz in the governor role

I completely lost respect for Kirsten Gillibrand for spearheading that.

Absolutely agree, she pushed out a good man. Compared to the awful senators in now, Franken is a blessing. If he did run and win it would be a double win with Walz as governor.

So many armchair quarterback comments. Waltz definitely helped the Democratic ticket people felt reassured and loved his wholesome attention to important issues. I believe that the "loss" will prove to be election fraud not because the Democratic ticket wasn't good enough.

I love Tim Walz, and think this country needs more like him. He was a good Governor, and although there is stiff competition he probably will win that seat back. I also love, and miss, Al Franken, and would like to see him back in the Senate. Let's see how they both decide, but if we could get Tim back in the Governor's seat, and Al back in the Senate, it would be great. Tim would make a great Senator too. I just hate to lose one when we could have both.

Governor or Senate or future Presidential run are all good.We can push him towards one or another, but in the end it’s up to him and his family and polling in MN.

I really hope Al Franken would run again for the Senate. He was treated very unfairly by a few holier-than-thou female Dems. Franken was a comedian doing what comedians do for laughs. He never touched the woman. Walz belongs in Minn as governor. I can only hope either Franken or Ellison take the seat back. Omar needs to stay in the House. She's not ready for the Senate.
