Yes, read every line to them. Record it & send it to all who don’t or won’t stay to hear it. None of them should be able to say I didn’t know what they are voting for.

Yes, Ardith, you're so right! Alert their constituents online, in local & national newspapers, through texts, and publish how they voted for all to see. If this doesn't wake up the MAGA voters to the vast Republican deceptions, what else will?

I think it’s a great idea! They should have every line read, and the Republicans should be forced to stay and listen, read it along with the clerk or whoever the reader is.. as there will need to be several.. and they should verbally cast their votes! Those votes should be sent to every one of their constituents, along with a digital link to the whole bill. I also feel that the proposed bill should be posted online & copies distributed to libraries, schools, etc. so the citizenry can avail themselves of it, and read what their Republican senators & Representatives have done, what they will need to do in preparing for the fight ahead.

Considering some House Republicans admitted they didn't read some parts of the bill or realize that a certain section was in it ....

How about all the MAGA senators. Maybe if they have to read it out loud, their constituents can see that they did read it and STILL voted to screw them over!

Good point! However, the MAGA cult hasn't figured it out yet with everything else that has gone on, so I have low expectations that they will suddenly grow a brain.

Every one of them should have to read those parts out loud lol

Apparently that may be the only way to get them to actually read it. Sad that they vote on something that they don't even completely understand.

Having it read aloud also puts it into the public record so no one can say they didn’t know what was in the bill. Time to hold the Republicans accountable!

Some in the House most notably Marjorie Taylor Greene voted to pass the BBB without knowing what was in it so yes, it should be read in its entirety with all members present. Not that they will take it all in but they won’t be able to lie or excuse themselves afterwards. If it passes, they will own it.

I’m 65 years old and have been waiting for this moment from Senate Dems my entire adult life (I first got involved in politics at 17 and lived in DC working in the political arena for 17 years and have been engaged and involved ever since). Read it all, broadcast it all as far and wide as possible, and force Republicans out into the light. Because cockroaches prefer to work in darkness.

In the Senate there can be "quorum calls" that force at least 50 to show up-- it is very difficult to get them there but doing it regularly (as in, every hour) is a great time waster for all the other crap the Rs want to pass.

The Democrats should demand that every word of the bill be read aloud to the Senate. Democrats have already found many unacceptable elements that without doubt would harm American families and independent and small businesses, rural infrastructure of all kinds, education, science, health - these the Republicans tried to sneak in, counting on no one having the energy or will to read every provision. Several leaders in the Democratic Party have already ferreted out disturbing elements and have already put forth legislative motions to stop them. More will come. Don’t even try to criticize the Democratic Party to me anymore. They are the only responsible party trying to hold back the fascist Republicans.

Not much has really changed despite appearances. The Republican Party, the party of the working class, the party of regular people. Hogwash! This is the same old Grand Old Party that is the party of wealth, the party of business, the party of elites (as defined by money and the power money brings as opposed to expertise). The Republicans have gotten adept at conning the regular citizens using racism, anger, xenophobia. hatred, and just about every undesirable human trait that can be imagined. They accomplished this by coordinating a nationwide network of propaganda media. Liberals had no answer for this in the beginning and still do not. MSNBC is pitiful when compared to Fox Views, the most popular News Channel in the nation. Now the Republicans are coming after PBS, the most balanced news presenter in the game. The MSM is almost irrelevant. No one really cares what CBS or NBC thinks or has to say. This bodes very badly for a purported democracy that we say we want to live in. --Roland Poche, New Orleans

I agree, Roland. Republicans often govern states poorer in income, access and education standards, and they have skillfully played the game of the ‘three cups’ with their constituents. Republican Legislators become millionaires while in office. Constituents don’t check that out. So they come with their blame game, turn frustration and pain into hatred and racism, and it’s all the fault of the Democrats, and…bingo, they get elected over and over and over. How old is Grassley? McConnell-after literally doing nothing for years except behind doors cajoling - goes into retirement with health care for life, a big pension and a multi-million dollar bank account.

Your assessment was excellent, Roland.

Call me unrealistic, but I believe Democrats can win if they pair up and get out and meet as many voters and not yet voters in the country as is physically possible. Listen, talk with, try out solutions in conversations with multiple age groups and, yes, verbally beat these fascist republicans black and blue by letting the millions and millions of Americans in the middle of the country know what is actually being done against them, against their rights, against their opportunities to flourish, by the Trump regime, which is becoming more rabid by the day. We are not looking for slogans. We are looking for honesty, those willing to do the hardest work candidates have ever done, candidates with a younger dynamism - that is an internal characteristic as Bernie and Warren and Reich have shown, more than strictly an age thing - we need orators who can make people want to listen, passion, intelligence, empathy. We need older democrats to mentor younger candidates about the workings of Congress before the primary stage because, as a blue dot in a huge MN district, I know the prejudice people have against young candidates.

The DNC needs to break the mesmerising cycle of irrational hate, racism, rage, intolerance, me-not-we that Trump and his group peddle. We need to rile up people in aid of good governance, fairness and yes, damn it, we need to build a storm that will destroy the ability of billionaires to determine and devastate our future. They need to pay. Full stop.
