You know, some of us remember the days when there were ONLY paper straws. Nobody had a plastic straw, and amazingly, incredibly, we survived! I’d go back to those days in a hot minute if I could.
This will keep the political news media in NY - DC distracted from whatever’s going on that truly matters. Expect Lawrence to have another blistering rebuke of the WH press corps next week.

Plastic is primarily made from fossil fuels, particularly petroleum and natural gas, through a complex refining and chemical process. While it is not exactly a byproduct, the production of plastic is closely linked to the extraction and processing of these fossil fuels. So, if we care about reducing our fossil fuel consumption to fight climate change and save the environment, we should also care about reducing our consumption of single-use plastics, such as plastic straws and plastic bottles (like the one Dump is drinking from in the photo).
Same here, virginia. We recycle everything here in California, including plastic wraps and bags (our grocery store has a special collection bin). Plus we compost like mad and our town also picks up green waste. We are down to just one small bag of actual trash per week. I wonder though what happens to all that plastic. Is it really recycled/reused or just burned? At this point I don’t have much faith.

The executive order, titled "Making English Great Again (MEGA)", will require all federal documents, textbooks, and elementary school spelling bees to adopt the revised spelling, with violators subject to deportation to "somewhere bad, like California." Trump’s team has also announced plans to reclassify "stollen," the German Christmas bread, as a "low-energy, weak pastry" unfit for patriotic consumption.
Language experts were quick to weigh in on the decision, with Oxford Dictionary editors calling it "a grammatical Pearl Harbor" and Merriam-Webster responding with a single, exhausted sigh. Meanwhile, German bakers worldwide have reported a surge in confused Americans attempting to buy loaves of bread in order to return them to the U.S. Treasury.

Until glass is brought back, I am recycling all of my recyclable plastic. I even wash and reuse my plastic spoons.
