As a tax accountant I feel compelled to point out the 10,000 is what it is currently; the amount Trump brought it down to in his 2017 bill. So “lowering it” means no change whatsoever.

Thank you. That’s a big smack in the face by Senate Republicans to their House Republican colleagues. May they all eat each other publicly and destroy the chance of this bill passing.

Upper middle class (eg 100,000 annually.) really took it in the shorts with the 2017 bill.

No deductions for professional development.

Salt double taxed.

I don't fault the NE moderates in blue states for trying to get more, because voting for this bill on its own without something to at least sell to their constitutents seems like a political death sentance, but when even MAGA Mike is saying don't do this, or it may blow up the entire bill, and they do it anyway, well, that is some serious insanity.---Jason

It BETTER COLLAPSE because they also haven’t removed the addition to prevent the courts from holding the 🤡 administration in contempt without forcing a HUGE BOND on the plaintiffs! This MUST BE REMOVED or Dump can bypass all the rulings against him!

How is that related to the budget though? Passage by Reconciliation has to do with the budget. Plus the courts are a co equal branch of govt. the SC should be ruling on this soon too about nationwide injunctions. Am I missing something here?

Technically, it is a government funding bill with tax cuts and a bunch of other stuff attached.--Jason

They are trying to bury it in the reconciliation bill so it can sneak through but it has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BUDGET!

Reconciliation is a budgetary process, and technically this is a budget bill because it is appropriating funds for the year.---Jason

find that he gets the short end of a long stick and is summarily "fired."

No one is talking about the abortion component of the bill that would run against laws in 12 states. Not likely Senate and House members will want this on their records next year and state legislatures will oppose as well.

We have heard this same old BS from senate republicans before. They will collapse as soon as TACO. Donny gets on the phone and starts to threaten republicans. This whole bill is structured to do one thing and make TACO Donny’s wealthy tax cuts permanent at the expense of the poor and middle class.

I am thrilled that the Republicans are fighting over this. When will they wake up and realize that giving big tax cuts to the very wealthy is going to add to the deficit, which is already too high? The majority of voters are not billionaires. If they don’t fix this bill, I hope it is dead on arrival when it goes back to the House.

Instead of a budget they need to negotiate impeachment for tariffs and overreach and stop the insanity of DOGE cuts. No negotiate=no moola.

Now that DHS is out of money, how are they going to keep justifying adding to the deficit. I vote let DHS/ICE personnel go the way of the DOGE cuts until they get a new budget in October. Immigrants will be safer and maybe puppy killer ICE Barbie and Miller will learn to manage their money better :) Oh, and let this bill go down in flames. Start over!
