Read: Samuel Alito Is The Insurrectionist Threat To Democracy On The Supreme Court
PoliticusUSA recently caught with MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, who offered some interesting reasons why Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is surging in the polls.
Video:
Schultz said, “The man is striking a nerve across the country, and it’s only growing, and so these crowds eventually, and this message eventually will translate into more visibility, better polling, and probably more money coming in, so I think that you know, he’s in it for the long haul. I mean this is not going to be a walk in the park for any competitor.
When asked how does Sanders’ message differ from Democrats of old, Schultz answered, “Well, you’d have to ask the people that. I think that there is a real sense of unspoiled presentation about Bernie that is intriguing to people. His straight talk, his authenticity, and his sincerity, I think really play to his popularity.”
In this age of heavily packaged and marketed post-Citizens United candidates, there is something decidedly retro about Bernie Sanders. The Senator for Vermont doesn’t come with big presentations or flashy displayed. He is standing up and talking about the issues that most Americans are concerned about.
Bernie Sanders is leading a grassroots movement that has been building since the economy collapsed in 2007-2008. Many people have economically recovered, but many more have not. The American people suffered while Wall Street and the big banks got bailed out.
Congress is plagued by a Republican-led dysfunction that is fueled by elected officials who only answer to their billionaire donors. People want more than to be heard. They want a government that acts in their best interests.
Sanders is popular because he is genuine.
As Ed Schultz put it, it isn’t going to be easy for anybody to beat Bernie Sanders.
