Fox News tried to push their Benghazi lies during an interview with Hillary Clinton only to see their conspiracy get blown to bits by the Democratic nominee.

Transcript via Fox News Sunday:

WALLACE: One reason that people question your account, and this gets to the important question of trust, is because that day at Andrews, you never talked about terrorism. You talked about the video.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CLINTON: We’ve seen the heavy assault on our post in Benghazi that took the lives of those brave men. We’ve seen rage and violence directed at American embassies over an awful internet video that we had nothing to do with.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CLINTON: No, that’s not — that’s not fair. If you go back and read everything that I said that day, I quoted people who talked about it being terrorism. I had already said it was terrorism. There was no doubt it was terrorism.

I think there’s been a confusion in the minds of some and exploiting that confusion for the advantage of others —

WALLACE: But I have a quote here that said —

CLINTON: But look at everything I said, because this goes back on all the investigations. There were riots, there were protests, there were efforts to breach our embassies.

WALLACE: Yes, but not in Benghazi. That wasn’t what that is about.

CLINTON: No, but I’m just telling you, we were looking at the whole world. The whole world was aflame.

Fox’s big lie about Benghazi has always been that Hillary Clinton blamed a video and not terrorism, but a close look at her emails and statements reveal that Clinton was talking about two different things. In the days after the attacks, she never blamed the video for the attacks. At the same time, her emails were calling the attacks terrorism.

Her emails and statements were different because the US government didn’t have confirmation in the immediate aftermath of the attack that it was terrorism. It would have been reckless and irresponsible for the Sec. of State to label the attack terrorism without evidence.

Hillary Clinton went on Fox News and broke the backbone of the right’s Benghazi conspiracy theory into tiny pieces. The Democratic nominee showed that behind Fox News’s tough talk is a network that presents no challenge to her. Clinton gave a fairly dominant interview on Fox, as once again, the network talked a big game, but was schooled by a superior Democrat.
