Trump Tells Three Lies In Two Tweets In Desperate Bid To Legitimize His Presidency

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 09:49 pm

The president-elect spun an alternate universe tale of the US where “so many” Obama Democrats voted for him, Democrats are mad because the Obama coalition supports him, and Trump took credit for bringing jobs back that he had nothing to do with.

Trump tweeted:

Trump was trying to add legitimacy to his presidency by claiming that Democrats are mad because so many Obama Democrats voted for him. This was another grasping attempt by Trump to hide the fact that he lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. There is a difference between voters who may have voted for Obama in the past who voted for Trump in 2016 and Obama voters.

The Obama coalition did not vote for Trump. If the “Obama voters” really had voted for Trump, he would have won the popular vote. Democrats aren’t angry at Trump because Obama voters supported him. This isn’t sour grapes. They are angry because Trump is going to privatize Social Security and Medicare while taking health insurance away from nearly 30 million Americans for starters. They are angry because he is going to roll back decades of progress on civil rights. They are angry because he won the election with Russia’s help. There are dozens of reasons why Democrats are angry. “Obama voters” voting for Trump is not one of them.

The other lie is that Trump continues to take credit for jobs that he had nothing to do with. Every corporation in America has realized that they can get some fast and cheap publicity by announcing existing plans to expand and letting Trump take credit for it.

The great irony is that the few hundred jobs that Trump is taking credit for here and there are nothing compared to the estimated 3 million jobs that are going to be lost over four years if Obamacare is repealed. Trump and the Republicans are about to devastate one-ninth of the U.S. economy, while the president-elect is trying to sell corporations creating a combined few thousand jobs as growth.

There is no reality in Trump’s statements. The next President Of The United States is leaving in a fantasy world, but it will be ordinary Americans who will pay the most severe price for Trump’s lies.
