During an interview on MSNBC’s MTP Daily, Democratic House candidate Jon Ossoff refused to get involved with Trump’s lies and attacks and smartly remained focused on winning the Georgia House special election.

When he was asked about Trump injecting himself in the Georgia special election at the last moment, Ossoff said, “Well, the national coverage of the race has focused on the national implications and the implications for the administration. I have spoken to the serious concerns that many in the community have here in respect to the administration. I’ve spoken openly and forcefully about them, but I’ve also been focused on local economic development and trying to unite people around a message that promotes shared values. A vision for this community and country that brings people together in Georgia instead of divides them.”
Ossoff’s answer was smart. There is no need for him to make this election into a national campaign with less than two hours to go before the polls close. As many opponents before him have learned, there is nothing to be gained by wasting time with the distraction of Donald Trump’s mud throwing Twitter contests.
Jon Ossoff is close to outright winning a House seat in a district that no Democrat has carried since 1979. Let Donald Trump spin his Twitter wheels elsewhere. Democrats are trying to win a special election.
