Trump’s Days are Numbered as Congressman Releases Article Of Impeachment

Some members of Congress are officially starting to get serious with the possible impeachment of Donald Trump. While impeachment did not seem very prominent early into his first 100 days, Trump is now facing many deserved calls for his impeachment due to his obstruction of justice during the Russian investigation, as well as his firing of Former FBI Director James Comey.

These calls hit a new high when today Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) released a draft article of impeachment against Trump and announced that he is planning to file his legislation for the impeachment in the upcoming days.

Hoping that these articles of impeachment will receive “expeditious consideration by the Judiciary Committee,” the Congressman demonstrated that Trump had committed a felony because he violated 18 U.S.C. 1512(b)(3) during his efforts to talk Comey into letting the Flynn investigation go.

Sherman elaborated on his reasoning by describing his evidence of collusion and obstruction as “sufficient to move forward now,” due to the fact that it is congress’s job to hold the president accountable for his actions. Furthermore, Sherman adds that it is in the best interest of the American people to move on with impeachment proceedings.

The California Congressman is among a small group of 24 brave House Democrats who are laying out the groundwork for impeachment. Sherman will spend the next several days getting his legislation ready, as well as receiving input from other members of Congress about his plan.

To the possibility of a Mike Pence presidency, Sherman is not shying away. “Having served with Mike Pence in the House for twelve years, I disagree with him on most issues of public policy,” says Sherman. “But we must move forward as quickly as possible to ensure a competent government that respects the Constitution and the rule of law.”
