Democrats Win As McConnell Delays Senate Vote On Health Care Bill Until After The 4th of July

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reversed course on his own strategy and has delayed the health care bill vote until after the 4th of July recess.

This was never about soliciting more opinions. The bill was going to fail at Wednesday’s procedural vote. McConnell doesn’t have the votes, and he is hoping to use the Senate 4th of July recess to cobble together enough side deals to get this legislation passed. It probably won’t work. McConnell is delaying the inevitable defeat, and it won’t be a surprise if we find out that the delay was pushed by the White House.

It is a big win for Democrats because they now have the one thing that Mitch McConnell feared the most. They now have more time to build public opposition to the bill. It wouldn’t be a big surprise if this bill lost more support during the recess.

Democrats need to keep pushing because they are winning, and if they keep their foot on the gas, Obamacare will be saved, and Trumpcare will be nothing more than a bad memory.
