Republican Strategist Celebrates The GOP Base Sticking With Trump After Nazi Support

Veteran Republican pollster and strategist Tony Fabrizio claims that President Trump is “crushing” it in a hypothetical GOP primary field, and this means Trump supporters don’t have “buyer’s remorse.” Which is to say, the Republicans supporting Trump are still with him after he defended neo-Nazis after one of them killed Heather Heyer.

And this is a good thing, according to the Republican strategist.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that maybe when your party is okay with a Nazi defender, you have larger issues than a primary.

But also, Fabrizio is so impressed with Trump at 50 seven months in?

Kasich strategist (and reality based Republican) John Weaver is not impressed.

This is too many people after Trump defended Nazis and not enough people to feel great about if you’re a Republican strategist. Why? Well, President Obama won his second term, but after two years in office (four years to disappoint people and be pummeled by reality and the press), in 2010 he came in at 64%.

Sixty-four percent is better than 50%, for the Trump Republicans reading.

But again. Having 50% of your supporters still with you after you defended white supremacists and neo-Nazis after one of them MURDERED someone is not a good sign.

Someone in the GOP has to have the guts to strategize past the next election, which means dropping the Nazis.

That isn’t likely to happen any time soon, though. Republicans raised record money in July. Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Finance Chairman Steve Wynn announced Tuesday that the RNC raised $10.2 million, which they said in a statement sent to PoliticusUSA is “a record for any July of a non-presidential year, and $86.5 million overall in 2017.”

“The unparalleled network of Republican support continues to be the key to our success,” said Chairwoman McDaniel. “Our efforts to help President Trump and maintain our Republican majorities would not be possible without the generous support of Americans across the country.”

‘Yay, we have the Nazi vote!’ didn’t used to be a winner, but this is the modern day GOP.

Yes, Trump won an election with incredibly high disapproval ratings. But he only won by 69,000 votes over three states and he did that with the help of the Russians hacking into the Democrats emails to stir up scandals. The Russians might not be so ready to help Trump in 2020.

But even if the Russians will help Trump in 2020, are Republicans really okay with that? What part of defending Nazis is patriotic and makes Republicans proud?

I won’t say this is a losing strategy since Trump rode his white broom and hood into the White House in the first place. But it is a shameful strategy. It is a historically grotesque strategy. It’s anti-American. It’s deplorable.

Yes, deplorable. If this poll is accurate, Hillary Clinton was right. Some Republican strategists are gloating about this. They have the Nazi vote down and their base is cool with it.

So much for “He’s not a racist.”
