The pressure of the Russia scandal has caused Trump to accelerate the number of lies he is telling per day to nine.

The Washington Post reported, “In Trump’s first 298 days in office, however, he made 1,628 false or misleading claims or flip-flops, by The Post’s tally. That’s about six per day, far higher than the average rate in our studies. And of course, reporters have access to only a subset of Trump’s false statements — the ones he makes publicly — so unless he never stretches the truth in private, his actual rate of lying is almost certainly higher. That rate has been accelerating. Starting in early October, The Post’s tracking showed that Trump told a remarkable nine lies a day, outpacing even the biggest liars in our research.”
Trump’s lies revealed a great deal about his inability to handle criticism and attempts to lie his way out of the Russia scandal. Fifty percent of the lies told by Trump were classified as hurtful or disparaging to others.
Donald Trump is trying to lie his way into making the American people believe that he is a successful president. He is also trying to lie away the Russia scandal. Trump is telling so many lies so frequently that it is fair to question if he has any grasp on reality. The President appears to be living in a delusional fantasyland of his own creation.
There are plenty of signals that Trump is deteriorating. He has always lied, but the difference is that the lies are bigger and coming faster to the degree that it suggests an Oval Office occupant is in full retreat from the real world.
