Trump claimed to have the highest SOTU ratings in history, which is not even close to true and fact checkers let him have it. The President will see what really big ratings look like when his impeachment hearings begin.

Trump tweeted:

CNN debunked the lie, “Several State of the Union addresses in the past were higher-rated, including Barack Obama’s first address in 2010, which had 48 million viewers.”
The New York Daily News pointed out Trump’s ratings were lower than Obama, Clinton, and George W. Bush, “Trump’s first State of the Union address also came in lower than Bill Clinton’s first State of the Union, when 45.8 million viewers tuned in, according to Nielsen. Fox News wasn’t on the air when Clinton made the 1994 speech. And he came in lower than George W. Bush’s first State of the Union, in 2002, which Neilsen said had 51.7 million people watching.”

The really big ratings will come for impeachment hearings

Americans have caught on to Trump’s game, and are bored with this president. He is increasingly being tuned out by the bulk of the country. In the age before digital media when cable news was still growing up, Bill Clinton’s impeachment coverage was just short of the OJ Simpson verdict regarding ratings. If Trump is impeached, it will set off a media frenzy the likes of which we have never seen.
Support for impeachment is higher than Trump’s odds of winning reelection, and if Democrats get control of the House, and the evidence of impeachable offenses is found, Trump will get the big ratings that he has always dreamed of by getting impeached.
