CNN has reported that Russian trolls with ties to the Kremlin allegedly released an anti-Hillary Clinton video game shortly before the election.

The game -“Hilltendo”- plays like any other time-sucking game you’ll find on the internet (looking at you, “Candy Crush Saga”), but a peek into the code reveals that the game may have tracked its users, and sent them micro-targeted ads.
It consisted of three levels, the least subtle of which may have been Level One: “Help Hillary delete as many classified emails as possible before she is caught.” Hilltendo.com proudly reported that the game had nearly 19,000 users; it is now unavailable. In unrelated news, though, this game is still available for free play. Go ahead and Trump!
CNN tracked the game to an IP address which evidently also hosted sites brought to you by the letter “R” and the Internet Research Agency. The Internet Research Agency, you’ll recall includes staffers who were indicted by Robert Mueller back in February.
The revelations of the depth and breadth of the Russian cyber-meddling in our election passed “alarming” months ago. One longs for the time when we could laugh at Mitt Romney for claiming that “Russia is the biggest geopolitical threat facing America.”
It’s ironic that this news broke today while Trump convened a panel to discuss whether violence in video games begets gun violence in real life (spoiler alert: it doesn’t), and that’s a bold statement when discussing the most ironic administration since the fox oversaw the hen house.
