Senior WH Advisers In Disbelief As Trump Spontaneously Invites Putin To Meet On Live TV

Donald Trump made matters much worse for his already-reeling senior advisers this week, spontaneously telling a group of reporters that he plans to meet with Russian president Vladimir Putin “in the not-too-distant future.”

A new Washington Post report reveals that the president’s closest advisers were “thrown” by the president’s remarks because nobody on the White House staff was informed of any possible meeting between the two world leaders.

President Trump’s senior advisers were thrown when he told Russian President Vladi­mir Putin on Tuesday that he expected to meet with him soon, as briefings before the call to Moscow included no mention of a possible meeting, and aides have not been instructed to prepare for one, senior administration officials said.

 

Although Trump told reporters that “probably, we’ll be seeing President Putin in the not-too-distant future,” several officials said there are no plans for the two even to be in the same country until November, when both are expected to attend a Group of 20 summit in Argentina.

Trump’s invite to Putin comes after he congratulated him for a sham victory

Trump’s impromptu invite to the Russian dictator came after he ignored the advice of his staff and his daily briefing – which he probably didn’t read – to do exactly the opposite. After all, the Russian election was not free and fair, and Putin was likely behind the recent poison attack in the UK.

That goes without mentioning the fact that Russia was behind the 2016 attack on the presidential election, and the Trump administration still has yet to take firm steps to both punish Moscow for the attack and prevent future attacks.

At the end of the day, these are the things that happen when you elect a 71-year-old toddler to the highest position in the world: You have to instruct him (in all-caps) to do things that should be no-brainers, and he still doesn’t listen.

This stuff is so not unbelievable anymore.
