The Trump legal team managed to get even weaker by adding former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani even though he hasn’t practiced law in thirty years.
The Washington Post reported:
Former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, a combative former prosecutor and longtime ally of President Trump, told The Washington Post on Thursday that he has joined the president’s legal team dealing with the ongoing special counsel probe.
“I’m doing it because I hope we can negotiate an end to this for the good of the country and because I have high regard for the president and for Bob Mueller,” Giuliani said in an interview.
Rudy Giuliani hasn’t practiced law in thirty years. If Trump is counting on Giuliani for legal advice, he is screwed. The real reason why Trump added Guiliani is because he wants someone who will go on television and defend him. Trump is trying to make Mueller go away and win the PR war with Giuliani. There are a few problems with this strategy. Bob Mueller doesn’t have to negotiate anything with Trump. If the Special Counsel wants to talk to the president, he can subpoena him. Secondly, Rudy Giuliani’s non-Fox News interviews have been crazy train wrecks for years. During the 2016 election, Giuliani had a habit of doing interviews that made Trump’s problems
worse.
