Women Chant Shame On You At Joe Manchin After He Announces Support For Kavanaugh

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) was met with chants of shame on you, and you will regret this after he announced that he is voting to confirm Brett Kavanaugh.

Manchin explained his support for Kavanagh by saying, “I’m very much concerned we have to do something as a country. But I had to deal with the facts I had in front of me…I just — you know, I never thought of it basically 50, 51, 52. I had to vote on the facts I had in front of me. If I had been in that position, I would have liked to have brought this place back to normal procedure if I had that opportunity to a 60-vote threshold.”

Manchin later added that he believed Brett Kavanaugh’s mistaken identity defense, “I think someone else did it.”

While Manchin was speaking, protesters chanted shame and then shame on you. One woman asked the West Virginia Senator why he betrayed women. Other protesters warned him that he would regret supporting Kavanaugh.

This is not going to end with the confirmation vote. The anger and disgust that have been unleashed are going to the polls in a month, and while someone like Joe Manchin may survive the 2018 election in West Virginia, Democrats are not going to forget, and what is about to be unleashed on those who support Kavanaugh will be felt for years to come.
