Herman Cain hasn’t even been officially nominated by Donald Trump to join the Federal Reserve Board, and odds of his confirmation just died a painful death at the hands of Senate Republicans.

According to CNBC, “Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer, N.D., on Thursday became the fourth member of his party’s caucus to tell reporters he would vote against the nomination of former pizza executive Herman Cain to join the board of the Federal Reserve.”
The report added, “Cramer’s announcement all but doomed Cain’s chances of receiving Senate confirmation if Trump were to formally nominate him, as the president said last week he planned to do.”
The three other Republican senators who are on the record opposing Cain’s potential nomination: Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Cory Gardner of Colorado, and Mitt Romney of Utah.
While many Americans are rightly stunned about the president’s habit of choosing right-wing pundits and random people he saw on TV to staff his government, it’s important to remember that Trump is one of those people.
We laugh when people like Herman Cain and Stephen Moore are potential Donald Trump Fed picks, but the president himself is completely unfit to hold his own position, so it’s no surprise that he would choose someone with an equally poor grasp of the federal government to fill key roles.
It’s also likely that, as more and more semi-qualified individuals want nothing to do with this Hindenburg presidency, there are fewer and fewer respected people willing to jump aboard.
Ultimately, America has an unqualified president of the United States choosing from a list of unqualified people to fill key positions in the federal government.
It would be funny if it weren’t so damn terrifying.
