Rod Rosenstein Is Going To Be Called To Testify By Democrats

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is resigning, but Democrats are already talking about calling him to testify before the House Judiciary Committee.

Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA) said on MSNBC’s The Beat With Ari Melber, “Well, it’s very interesting. I think that he was very disappointing, especially the way that he handled things at the end with Barr standing behind him as he had the press conference. So it will be interesting to see whether he comes before our committee and what he has to say now that he will not be an employee of the Department of Justice.”

Rod Rosenstein had a bird’s eye view of all of the top Trump scandals. Rosenstein wrote the letter that provided the cover story for the firing of James Comey. He oversaw the Mueller investigation after Jeff Sessions recused himself. Rosenstein was there when Barr took over as attorney general and the Mueller investigation ended.

Rosenstein’s testimony would be very valuable for congressional investigators, especially on the issue of obstruction of justice.

Trump can try to assert executive privilege over Rosenstein’s testimony, but doing so would be another move to stall for time.

Rod Rosenstein may have resigned, but he is about to begin a whole new chapter as a key witness to the potential criminal activity of Donald Trump.
