Trump ‘Jokes’ That He Wants To Stay In Office For 10 or 14 Years

Trump claimed to have been “joking” at his Florida rally when he said that he wants to stay in office for 10 or 14 years.

After attacking the media, Trump said, “They are a bunch of fakers there’s no question about it. But in six years, they’re all going to be out of business folks. Now if we want to drive them crazy, I’ll say in ten years. They’ll go crazy. See. He is a despot. He is a despot. Well, ten or fourteen. Watch, they’ll be headlines tomorrow. Donald Trump wants to break the constitution.”

No president has ever joked so much about wanting to violate the constitution and stay in office like Donald Trump. The president is terrified of losing reelection because he is likely to face a criminal indictment as soon as he leaves office. Of course, Trump would love to remain president for ten or fourteen years. The statute of limitations would expire on all of his crimes and he would be good to go.

Trump may say he is joking, but presidents don’t normally joke about violating the constitution, and this president, who admires dictators especially would love to hold on to power.

Trump can claim he is joking, but there is a strong scent of truth in the idea that Trump is scared to leave office because his next stop might be federal prison.
