Man Says He Was Following Trump’s Orders When He Fractured Boy’s Skull For Wearing Hat During Anthem

A man with a brain injury said that he was acting on the orders of Trump when he fractured a 13-year-old boy’s skull for wearing a hat during the national anthem.

The attorney for a 39-year-old man charged with assaulting a child who didn’t take his hat off for the national anthem says his client, compromised by a traumatic brain injury, believes he was acting on an order from President Donald Trump.

Superior resident Curt Brockway was charged Monday with felony assault on a minor. His defense attorney, Lance Jasper, told the Missoulian Wednesday the president’s “rhetoric” contributed to the U.S. Army veteran’s disposition when he choke-slammed a 13-year-old, fracturing his skull, at the Mineral County fairgrounds on Aug. 3.

“His commander in chief is telling people that if they kneel, they should be fired, or if they burn a flag, they should be punished,” Jasper said. “He certainly didn’t understand it was a crime.”

Brockway told the child to remove his hat during the national anthem, and when the boy refused, he fractured his skull.

Trump’s dangerous rhetoric inspires unwell people to act

Lots of people struggle with brain injuries. The vast majority don’t assault children because they think they are doing so under orders from Donald Trump. Trump’s rhetoric is dangerous, and the people who it appeals to the most tend to be not well. The culture of division that Trump has created has caused a serious injury to a child. A president is responsible for their own words, and as these incidents pile up, it is becoming impossible for Republicans and Trump’s supporters to damage themselves from the death and injury that his words are inspiring.

Every single Republican who doesn’t speak out against Trump’s rhetoric is enabling violence against innocent people.
