Thanks Democrats for putting this move by Trump squarely where it needs to be…a shakedown by a sleazy person only concerned with monetizing this presidency. There are others who wrote Project 2025 who are pulling the strings of Trump. They also need to be called out. He’s a perfect puppet for them.

The funny thing is, that is a 747 - 8, which is the exact same plane that he ordered 2 of in his last term. That's still being built by Boeing. So it's not like it's a different plane. It's the exact same place. Just doesn't have the bling. The minute he saw the gold lined everything that's what he wanted.

Here’s the deal. Air Force One is supposed to a fully capable command center for the President. It has countermeasures and defensive weapons. It is supposed to be shielded from jamming. It is supposed to be set up to be refueled in flight. It is supposed to have stealth technology. It is supposed to be able to communicate even through electromagnetic interference from nuclear blasts. All that stuff has to be added to this plane and Boeing will have to strip it down to check for bugs and then add all the upgrades. It may not be ready until after January 20, 2029.

At least when they have a plane that they ordered from Boeing, they won’t have to tear it apart to find if there’s any cameras or recorders or bugs in it they gotta tear that whole plane apart and check it out. They said it could take a couple years.

We the people need to see this ‘memorandum’ from the PINO administration asking for the plane…I would absolutely fricking love it if dealings with Qatar is what finally brings this bloviating buffoon down!!! Would have been sweeter if it was SA, but I’ll take it. I hope we are NOT refurbishing that flying piece of junk. If it ends in it remaining/refurbishing it, PINO should be billed $1.4B, to claim as his.

A repost from 12 days ago: R/P: This “free gift” of a jet from Qatar to Trump should expose very publicly the gift as an attempt to corrupt our democracy. Qatar needs to understand this could put them in bad favor in future administrations. Make it about Qatar.

Let the games begin! Public disowning, denials, squabbles, outings, about-facings, finger pointings - so many, everywhere - hurrah! And although completely predictable, it is a satisfying relief, with more shoes to drop - while not pop corn time yet, we are justified in smiling and slapping our knees. Now let us somehow feed folks in Gaza, Sudan, and other hurting places.

What's missing in Qatar claim is the price negotiated and payment terms in the contract. Bring that forward and I'll forward it to my Representative's. Without it is a He said She said.

Trump signed a contract with Boeing for Air Force One planes in 2018 for $3.9 billion. Boeing has been working on them for five years but has had delays due to contractor issues, which angered Trump. So he started searching for other planes. Boeing could sue due to breech of contract if they are cancelled.

The Qatari plane (which is illegal and unethical to accept such a gift to say the least) is fifteen years old and will cost $1-$2 billion to update and could take several years. The Boeing planes could be done by then. And they have lost $1 billion themselves. But Trump doesn’t care because he loves the (tacky) gold opulence of the Qatari plane. A little spoiled no?

And the Quari plane model is no longer being manufactured and will cause delays and will be extremely expensive to get parts in the future.

Why should we taxpayers pay for all this to only give it to Trump when (if) he leaves, while they want to cut health care, programs (list goes on) for us everyday Americans who are just trying to make ends meet. Many can’t even do that.

That’s right! Qatar has been trying to sell it for a while but nobody’s wanted it because it’s old and costs a lot more to use because it’s so huge. An article referred to it as a “beast.” Of course Trump fell in love at first sight because he feels it’s impressive (it is not) and other leaders (aka dictators) have these luxurious planes. He doesn’t care about anything else when he wants something.

It was previously reported that Trump asked that the plane be given to him instead of asking him to purchase it. I don’t recall what reason he gave the rulers of Qatar to convince them, but clearly he was convincing. However this deal is absolutely wrong for Qatar and the US. I’m glad that they are realizing this is not a slam dunk, this is not the right way to go and that their brief connection with Trump can’t possibly be worth jeopardizing their relationship with United States. And possibly other countries.

Also, there is no way the US should be settled with $1 billion project to overhaul that plane, sanitize it and make sure it is not bugged. As well, there’s no way that the US should spend five cents on doing anything with that plane and then handing it to Trump, who’s already damaged and stolen more than can even be assessed in his first hundred days. As well, there’s nothing wrong with America’s fine and properly equipped Air Force One. just because Trump requires gold, plated toilets, and expensive bedrooms, even on an airplane, he can damn well pay for it out of his own rancid pocket.

Not surprising that what was called a gift to him by Trump was actually a bribe that he instigated & arranged. Oh yeah, another instance of “They all love me so much!” We should have suspected the lie way back. Who would ever love this transactional creep that much?
