For example, the 2027 NDAA, which, among a long list of items, sets Department of Defense funding levels, passed the House in July, but the Senate version has not passed, and a final reconciled version has not been agreed to.
Democrats in the House and Senate will have very little incentive to agree to anything involving funding because they are set to take control of Congress in a matter of weeks after these deadlines pass.
House and Senate Democrats are already set to use these deadlines to their advantage, as they are going to use their leverage over the White House to cut off funding for Trump’s Iran war.
Democrats promised to force Trump to end the war, and Senate Democrats said that they will move quickly to force an end to the war. The incoming chairman of the House Armed Services Committee has stated that the House will do the same.
