Can you tell me why no one is easing the HUGE RES FLAGS on the issues relating to judicial powers being taken away? It makes me sick to think you are all falling for the diversion tactics and if you allow those judicial sections to survive, you are all handing trump his dictatorship on a platter

Why is the media ignoring these EXTREMELY and much more important issues in that big beautiful bill

Sarah Jones & Jason Easley's avatar

Because it is probably not going to make it into the final tax cut bill. It is a non-story until it is in th final bill, and your description of the provision is an exaggeration. The provision doesn't take away judicial powers. Again, that is something that is almost certain to bite the dust when the Senate redoes the bill.---Jason

If you think allowing the government to side step contempt citation isn’t a problem or is a non-story I’m not too sure what to think of you. Even if it gets taken out the fact that they are trying to do it is a huge deal. If they can push that, don’t think they’ll stop there. Don’t get me wrong, the gutting of Medicaid and SNAP is a huge deal, but so is a government trying to destabilize checks and balances cause they aren’t getting what they want.

So it’s the “almost certain” that worries me

And that it is not being talked about as significantly as it should

For example, although I don’t have the name at the moment, I watched a town hall where a republican congressman voted yes for the bill but when confronted about the parts contained therein re: the judiciary issues, stated to the viewers that he wasn’t aware if those parts until after he voted

Therefore, would it not be incumbent on media to raise this flag so that this “oversight” doesn’t happen again or at least they can’t pretend they didn’t know??

Sadly, I agree Larry.

In don’t see them stopping this bill

They’ll do what they did in the house Let trump come in and change their minds ir rather than vote NO, decline to vote at all

But That’s going to be the end of democracy for sure

Nothing else can be done.

How in the heck can there be so many evil people in America and in particular, so many in politics who are sitting back and allowing this to happen

Organize, Stick Together, and Resist. We The People are the last line. If the line does not hold there is no "United States" anymore.

Wasn’t the ICC investigating Trump but their investigation was halted by his DOJ somehow?

I may be wrong but I recall reading something about that and thinking “wow, this guy is even controlling the international criminal court”.

Anyone know anything about this. Was it just a bad dream I had. (lol)

Yes you are right and Trump issued an EO/ Sanctions on the ICC in February 2025. Trump did the same thing in 2020 I believe and these were lifted by Biden. I believe we need to fight to get the ICC here. The IcCC was created by the people for the people- think General Telford Taylor and Ben Ferencz. How can we protect the ICC and international justice?

The US sanctions pose a dire threat to the ICC, as well as to the broader international rule of law and its multilateral system. But there is still hope.

Many countries continue to support the ICC. In June 2024, 74 ICC member states affirmed their commitment to fighting impunity. After President Trump’s recent Executive Order, European Union foreign ministers declared their ‘unwavering support’ for the Court.

But words are not enough. States must turn their statements of commitment and support into concrete action to defend the ICC.This includes passing national laws that shield individuals and companies from the threat of US sanction laws. It also includes fully cooperating with the Court, including by arresting and transferring individuals subject to ICC arrest warrants.

Through individual and collective action, states can defend the ICC and stand up to the US government’s egregious attacks on it. Our global network of human rights advocates is actively calling on governments to support the ICC and uphold international justice.

The reason no one’s talking about it is because that’s the strategy. Strip judicial power while everyone’s distracted by the noise. Normalize it. Bury it in bills and bureaucracy. Let the media obsess over spectacle while the foundation of democracy is quietly removed brick by brick.

And it’s working.

The courts are supposed to be a check on executive power. Undermining that independence—through legislation, intimidation, or sheer neglect—is not just a legal issue. It’s a prelude. It’s how democracies fall and authoritarianism takes hold—not all at once, but through a series of power grabs no one stops.

Why isn’t the media covering it?

Because complex threats don’t trend. And because some outlets are more concerned with access than accountability. They won’t call it what it is.

So yes—it’s terrifying. And yes—it’s happening.

And if people don’t wake up, organize, and resist it at every level, we’ll look back and realize we didn’t lose our democracy in a storm. We let it bleed out in the background.

Protests come in every shape and every size.

The media? Their reporting is nuanced. Careful. Often too careful. They’re not taking this on the way they should. They’re not calling it what it is. So we have to.

Make sure you’re paying attention. Jump in where you can.

Here’s a protest that’s one shape, one size. It begins with a letter and ends with a mailbox.

Help this go viral.

And when the next protest idea comes along—whatever shape it takes—help that one go viral too.

Be Relentless or Be Over

President Biden has never given up hope in “We the People”. He still believes in us even after Americas dumbest decision EVER! Every time I see him or hear him speak now, I miss him greatly. He dedicated the bulk of his life to America…to us! I hate that the whiny orange 🍊 POS has done his best to try and ruin his legacy! And I hate that they are digging into his health issues when he WAS president because he was STILL a million times a better president than tRump has been! The man has cancer…leave him and his family alone!

I was able to see some of his speech and he really does look and sound great despite his cancer diagnosis. tRump has had to use his wealth as an illusion of strength and power, but, in all actuality he is weak and petty! It’s not even him who made this possible…everyone else around him has been the brains behind this grift! He’s a puppet…

I’m just so frustrated and saddened by the fact that America didn’t see this coming and we are still fighting to wake everyone up! 🌹

Biden has more acuity than any of this current regime. He worked hard for the American people and I’d bet he’ll go down as one of the best presidents. I hate that his reputation is being besmirched by the vengeful Republicans and its demented leader. I wonder how each Republican is going to view their legacy in the future. Joe’s legacy will shine compared to the traitors who are now dismantling …or trying to…our democracy. Just think about that MAGA cult members, that ugly stain will never wash out. I am really glad to hear this. That said I don’t think Biden‘s decision had anything much to do with politics. At the time he was thinking more in terms of how to build jobs for poor Americans in neglected areas of the country. Red states are obviously neglected in this context.
