They don’t sanewash him. They lie for him. The misinformation of what he really says and means seems to extend from the journalist to the newspaper or network.. it is way beyond sanewashing. It is cowardice or complicity !

Are you kidding? Have you noticed any time that he does anything remotely insane they always have to bring up Joe Biden.

Elizabeth J. Sampson's avatar

Actually “they” don’t. Trump is the one who is completely obsessed with Biden and Obama. He brings them up whenever he speaks.(it seems) i assume it’s his dementia.

Trump definitely has dementia. Alzheimers or not.

Marjorie's avatar

BUT they NEVER hesitate to regurgitate anything negative about Joe Biden. Joe had his faults, we all do, but he was a darn good President. We could sleep at night. His big mistake was not sticking to his plan of being a one term President. So Kamala did not have enough time.

Winston Smith London Oceania's avatar

Hell, Jake Tapper wrote a whole damned book about Biden and promoted it all over the place. As for Kamala, there's a possibility that she actually won:

Because Trump is batshit crazy.

WhatsMadderU's avatar

I don’t know CNN sure talk a lot about Jake Tapper‘s book and now the Biden White House correspondence it sure isn’t Trump bringing up their books and yeah, he stumbles he babbles just like on the plane they had to bring up the Joe Biden stumble and used to come out of the belly of the plane that wasn’t from the orange turd or how he was out on the set of reacher it looked feeble. I don’t know. I walked around, didn’t look at me.

CNN is charging now to use their iphone app. They have interminable ads. To watch CNN is like watching a channel of ads, with tiny 30 and 60 second news.

Winston Smith London Oceania's avatar

Remember when cable first came out and its big selling point was no commercials? "Just pay us directly and you won't have to sit through ads!" Now we're expected to pay directly >and< sit through "infomercials".

They want a fascist takeover because it is the lazy way out. However, the side affects of fascism hasn't been seen in 90 years. What goes around comes around.

Susan Adair's avatar

Well it’s the stupid way out. Let it nearly take over the world and then sacrifice a generation of men; fathers, brothers and sons to stop the destruction of humanity and then you appreciate what you have and what it truly cost. Time heals all wounds. a couple of generations pass, those who were adored and lost to war are forgotten and the story repeats. Is it laziness or fucking stupidity.? I’d imagine that is the purpose of patriotism instilled in our children but if it is only memorization without the knowledge of content or context it can be usurped and collected by any agency to their advantage. It’s not enough to protect ourselves from it we must know it and recognize the hallmarks and indicators of the beginnings of fascism and see that this knowledge is understood, and passed forward with the urgency and weight it requires

Winston Smith London Oceania's avatar

It's greed. They're taking the profitable way out.

Susan Adair's avatar

Clutch my pearls! The entire financial benefits of liquidating services will become a death sentence to this regime. Somehow they believe they deserve more at the expense of millions of lives suffering. With all they have it’s not enough and nothing will be. There is no boundary to greed. Greed consumes, it is blind to the need of others or any human function. You can’t breath money, you can’t eat money, you can’t drink money. Greed unchecked will consume humanity. The hunger insatiable and the undeniable fact is greed will eat itself. History baby

Cambridge was a computer tech company used to influence social media to effect the 2016 election. They created the algorithm that from a variety of quizzes created personalized customized advertising to influence each Facebook user individually. So all political advertising placed in the feed of “ a single white, democratic Baptist woman with two cats” will receive specifically designed to influence that person. Really. Marjorie's avatar

I get that, however what happens in those press conferences at the White House is mostly garbage being thrown around. Asking questions is a waste of breath. I would just take notes and report what was said, verbatim. Play the video from start to finish.

It’s like a contagious disease. A reporter curbs an opinion or statement, is careful about what they write, exercises caution, circles issues. It is a symptom of the limitations being put on our first amendment rights and freedom of the press. Unconsciously, the public is already knuckling under to this regime because of potential retaliation. Please be aware of the walls closing in.

Winston Smith London Oceania's avatar

They might have "disappeared" him.

Kathi Jackson's avatar

Yes, if the conversation went as written, it is highly likely that Trump didn't understand what the reporter was saying. He should have said "corporate media rewrites the things you say, to make you sound like a normal person, so that people can't tell that you are completely incompetent, clueless, and insane."

Sarah Jones & Jason Easley's avatar

Again, if the reporter phrases it that way, they're getting thrown out of the White House, banned from the pool, and maybe fired. I think folks really need to understand the environment around this administration better.---Jason

Kathi Jackson's avatar

I thought it would be obvious that it wouldn't be a good idea to actually say what I wrote...

I am sick and tired of mainstream media making him look normal! They’re all so afraid of him! Why? What is he going to do? That’s why I’m on Substack and Bluesky. The people on there aren’t afraid of the orange clown!!

Bluesmurf's avatar

He owns the government and the people running it will do whatever he wants them to do no matter how stupid it is on their part to follow him and no matter the consequences, which they all think they will get out of with a pardon or just ignoring the problem they create and it will just magically go away.

Mainstream media is licensed by the FCC and the FCC can pull their licenses. That is what he can do and has threatened to do. YouTube, substack and Bluesky are under different platforms that aren't licensed by the FCC. They have no control over Internet Content - only some control over net neutrality and to get the Internet people, he'd have to shut down the Internet, which would impact him as well. Don't see him doing that.

TRUTHMemes by ANCILEE's avatar

Excuse me but we also have Lawyers who Sue him EVERYDAY. 😂 You people are a bit off actually. The News isn't going anywhere. To bad Propaganda FOX NEWS NewsMax and others can't be stopped bc it's a lot of Bullshit Agendas and UNAMERICAN Divisiveness Traitorship BSERS.

Bluesmurf's avatar

You make an interesting statement. Taken literally, "the News isn't going anywhere" is a fact as long as there are breathing, talking people on this planet who will make news and someone to spread it, report it, or whatever.

News organizations, on the other hand, have been disappearing for decades as readership changes, technology changes, the World changes. We are in one such transition right now as the news and independent media are moving to all digital on the Internet and away from the air waves. The licensed networks will be forced to change or go out of business, just like the newspapers mostly all have done since the invention of the television, and seen a definite and huge decline since the widespread availability of the Internet and technology.

There has always been divisiveness in our human cultures as well. Have you not heard of the Hatfields and McCoys in the 1880's? These were two families in Appalachia who so very much hated one another that it drew the attention of law enforcement, and then over time the nation ending up in the Supreme Court. Given the sparsity of news, these two families were seemingly not influenced by outside sources, but by their own local little area and the stealing of a hog. It is also rumored that they were on opposite sides of the civil war as well.

This was the news source in Boston leading up to and including the Revolutionary War - it is no longer in existence - Boston Gazette. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Gazette

The craziness of entertainment news like FOX and others' successes lies not in what they air or publish, but in the failure of the audience in determining whether to believe it or not. But take heart, we may not see it in our lifetime, but FOX will go out of business just like Satellite News Channel, Tempo Television, News Talk Television, and America's Talking - all closed in the last Century.

Larry's avatar

We The People need to bring back the Fairness Doctrine (that Raygon abolished for Fuxx Entertainment) and Apply it to the Internet Too. Then put f'ing AI to work doing Real Time Lie Meters on all Free Press / Journalism Outlets.

Marjorie's avatar

Has the FCC ever publicly agreed with pulling any licenses? So what excuse does the Senate have? They must know they will not be reelected in 2026 by now. So threats to primary them are hot air. By saying OK to his cabinet picks, they have alienated too many voters, and Elon was the icing on the cake. Dump is really powerless on his own, he needs Miller and he is too far gone to know it. I don't think the voting public really is aware of this.

Bluesmurf's avatar

From what I've read and see so far, the FCC is just being a bully. The FCC Chairman has been menacing to CBS, but mostly I believe it is just all talk, bullying, threats, anything they can do to intimidate. The FCC has until July to make decisions about CBS request for merger and can delay another 90 days. If by October 7th, I think, the FCC has not arrived at a decision, then the merger goes into default and Shari, who is worth mere millions, not 400 million, will be fined the 400 million dollars. It's all a game.

Pcasac's avatar

This is a significant deviation from what professional journalism is supposed to do. We have to remember that Fox Entertainment is just that, it is not technically classified as a real news station and are not held to the same standards. However, the mainstream press should not be biasing the public by hiding the truth. They can’t even intervene when somebody is being hurt so they definitely don’t have the right to hide reality from the public making it more difficult for the public to make informed decisions for themselves. If they do that, they should let people know that they are no longer operating by journalistic standards and are a biased entity, supporting the president and his cronies.

They're caught between the Scylla and Charybdis of asking and telling the truth, or avoiding controversy and pre-washing the comments. Whether they twist his incoherent noises into something recognizable, or tell it straight and get banned, lose-lose. Americans who need to know are the real losers. MSM seems to be hemorrhaging talent, and fortunately for us as the exodus grows, most seem to land here and BSky.

I guess the core threat is that this just adds to the number of boot-licking toadies in the press room producing even more unchallenged propaganda. But then, in an astonishing show of spinal regeneration (sort of) what the Dems did during that bullshit hearing about Biden's cognitive state was extremely heartening.
