"I think it's worth it. I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."

Kirk made this statement during an April 5, 2023, TPUSA Faith event that took place on the Salt Lake City campus of Awaken Church.

Live by the sword. Die by the sword.

Jesus. Such a flippant comment. His parents raised someone that apparently never had to own up to his words and deeds. Until now. (I know nothing about his parents and I feel very badly for them and for his family.) trump must be thrilled to have another distraction.

Unfortunately, you are correct. Live by the sword and die by the sword was exactly my thoughts. Although I do not rejoice that this man was murdered despite his politics being polar opposite of mine

How is this any more horrific than children getting shot while in school? I find it very hard to feel any sympathy or empathy (an emotion Kirk said was a made-up New Age term) for the man. I do, however, feel badly for his children.

"A few gun deaths are worth it to protect our Second Amendment rights."- Charlie Kirk

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

Misinterpreting the Constitution to suit a political party's objectives is always destructive, no matter which party.

But 15,186 gun deaths in 2025 in the USA IS NOT "A FEW" GUN DEATHS.

My thoughts and prayers are with Minnesota House of Representatives Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, in addition to Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, all murdered in June by a Trump MAGA fanatic.

None of THEM endorsed the murderous NRA and its self-dealing, profiteering view of gun ownership.

The FAILING USA is imploding under the weight of its warped values. SAD!!!

Very sad... However, we can forget about MAGAs embracing gun-control. Not gonna happen. They always parrot that old untruth: "Guns don't kill people; people kill people. Since it is one of their own, they may tone it down. If it were a Democrat, a black or brown person they would probably call for more guns. I am thinking the Mango Mussolini may even send the National Guard into that little Utah city, but he appears only to send them to Blue cities. We know that Utah is very Red. Oh well...

With Kirk's death watch for the right-wing social media and podcasters to start using his untimely death to gaslight the public as " further proof of the lefties continued violence".

Ironic that he opposed gun control. And that he felt "unsafe" in big blue cities but was killed in a red state.

So very sad that his young life was cut short over politics. Prayers for Charlie Kirk’s family.

Political violence is never the answer! It has been exacerbated by this president though. He has absolutely divided us and it has shifted this country into a hateful filled republic. It has to change.

Expand full comment
Erik Zellers's avatar

We don't know that politics had anything to do with it. He might have had an affair with someone else's wife, or defrauded someone, or any of thousands of personal reasons. Maybe he was sacrificed by the Repugs precisely to incite more violence from the Right. A false flag, as Republicans love to call any violence that reflects poorly on them.

Trump has divided America his hate speeches have put people lives at stake for Democrats and Republicans until he’s out of office I see more political violence coming. He could care less Kirk is dead. Last in a restaurant women were chanting at him he was scared the look his face. He’s a coward he should have listen to them instead he was yelling like idiot. He’s just making money from Americans stealing millions making deals around the world as he causes destruction and distraction so no one see him. He will destroy everything he touches at WH. He will steal our artifacts. This make me ill. Conservatives will blame all but guns these people are hollow cowards

Other countries don’t have as many mass shootings and killing as the United States does. Until our country get handle on these AK OR ARs

I understand hunting, target shooting. The rifles that military has is different that they use in school mass shooting. It’s sick. I know no other word.

I hate to say it because it's not what Jesus would do, but the devil side of me egged on by the destruction of our country over the last 8 months believes words should have consequences and Kirk's words came home to roost. This is not the answer, but many including me, believe it is the way the wrongs will begin to be righted.

The ball rolls downhill. Look to the leadership for your answers . Corruption in our leadership sends a message that it is ok to lie, cheat and steal your way to the top. Death due to gun violence, whether it is one person or a school full of children is not EVER ok to justify the second amendment.

Yet, here we are at the mercy of the 2nd Amendment because "moron judges" don't want to understand the first passage. "A well regulated Militia."

As a teacher who had to undergo active shooter drills every year, and deal with the terror of children who were told to stand on toilet so their feet wouldn't show - just in case the shooter came into the bathroom - because we were not allowed to allow that student back in our locked classrooms.

Charlie Kirk was a purveyor of violence. My prayers are for the kids in Denver and across the country.

Crime and violence are not partisan issues. Bullets and guns do not arrive with their victims’ names or political affiliation on them. It is the user who determines to whom they are applied. This is why gun control and the ban of automatic weapons is essential.
