Actually, the ICE.STERS detained 425 South Koreans--without checking to see if they were all

"illegal aliens." Shows how stupidly sinister this whole drama really is. And now Trump says he is going to send National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon because the city has been destroyed by woke hoodlums. Unfortunately, he got that information by seeing videos from the 2020 protests after the George Floyd murder. He will be sorry if he sends his hitmen into Portland. As a former Oregonian, I can tell you it will not be pretty. Oregon "plays for keeps."

ICE agents are Trump's Brownshirts. Low IQ, racist thugs who are living their dream of terrorizing people who never did anything to them. Unfortunately, as this plays out on the global stage, all Americans are tarred by the same brush, much as all Germans were in Hitler's regime. We will receive no grace.

I live on the West Coast and there is nothing particularly going on in Portland, Oregon or anywhere else on the West Coast. National Guardsman will be picking up trash and spraying down sidewalks and sweeping the streets if they are sent to West Coast cities.

drumpf is just pissed off because of the consortium our states out here are creating to continue to get health care. Can't have that - people must die and now that he's blown a boat out of the water in the Caribbean, I guess killing U.S. Americans inside our borders is his next logical step. It will no longer be "beat them," it will be "kill them!"

But my money's on Oregon as well... It's a state that once drew a map that detoured I-5 around the border of California, Nevada, Idaho, and Washington to discourage anyone from driving through it or even thinking about staying. It was a joke at the time, but was it?

I have joined Indivisible here, and we are making our MAGA MOC's life miserable on a daily basis. We also torment the Mango Mussolini in protests whenever we can. I doubt he will send his Goon Squad to Athens, because GA is a

deep RED state--although Athens is Blue. Since Trump is so demented and ill, I doubt he will last the next three years, but JD Dancey Dance is almost worse, because he is not only evil, he has a brain. Glad you are in Oregon to hold the fort!

The ineptitude of this administration is staggering. No one in the white house thinks about cause and effect. They only think about one item on their "to-do" list and ignore how it might affect the other items on their list. Nice way to build relations with countries that were once our friends. Maybe Donnie should tell the countries what products are acceptable to manufacture. He's made it clear he doesn't like anything that is friendly to the environment.

Thanks, Jason. I am confused about this raid. How did those Korean nationals get into the US? Did Hyundai bring them over to work at the plant? If yes, isn’t Hyundai required to arrange for the correct work visas? And, isn’t it the employer’s (Hyundai’s) responsibility to ensure the workers don’t overstay their visas after they expire? Also, if a worker’s visa is nearing expiration, can Hyundai request it be extended? Or is Hyundai required to send those “expired” workers home, and bring in new workers with fresh visas? Nobody is asking these questions …

Reported by The Guardian today: “A Hyundai Motors spokesperson said none of the people detained was employed directly by the automaker, which complied ‘with all laws and regulations wherever we operate.’ “ Hmmm. 475 Korean nationals detained at the plant didn’t work directly for Hyundai. Were they brought in by a third party as contractors and basically hired without papers? Come on. This sounds fishy as hell and is unfair to the workers who are now trapped in ICE hell.

. It is not 475 South Koreans. According to the South Korean government, 300 were South Korean nationals. The rest might be nationals from other countries. The numbers are murky, as with all of Trump's ICE actions. My guess is, judging from reading comments from S. Korea, these are people who came in before Trump took office, were legally here, but then the administration pulled the rug out from under them. The plant is a joint venture with LG, and Hyunadi said the people detained were not working for them. I would guess, judging from the reaction of the South Korean government, these people were here legally until the Trump administration decided they were not.---Jason

I will lay odds on the fact that Trump's ICE is lying their asses off about the Koreans being undocumented. One of the things about S. Korea and Japan is they bend over backwards to comply with the laws of other countries. Since most of the Koreans were there to train and instruct US Citizens about Hyundai technology they all had H1B visas.

It is possible that some were working with expired H1B visas, and they continued to work while waiting for the visas to be updated. We in the US now have a immigration system that is chaotic, difficult to travese. and takes months to get a visa, let lone get one updated. This is all because we have people who are bigots and who hate the idea that anyone would get any privileges close to equal. It is almost like you need to apply for an update the minute you land, only to be told you need to wait until your current visa expires, before we can update. However, with the cut backs and layoffs of government staff [all in the name of efficiency] it now takes 3 x or longer to get a visa updated.

The Trump admnistration is now destroying any good will we have with our allies, throwing them under the bus. We will be lucky if any of our allies will ever want to do business with us ever again.

Trump quietly preparing to travel next month to South Korea, where he could sit down with China’s leader

President Donald Trump and his top advisers are quietly preparing to travel to South Korea in October for the gathering of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation trade ministers, three Trump administration officials told CNN.

“A visit to South Korea is being discussed, which would focus on economic collaboration,” a White House official told CNN. Other goals include a focus on discussions around trade, defense and civil nuclear cooperation, the official said.
